The only issue for me, is that Fryatt is better than McLean and Proschwitz, so just as with the Hobbs situation, we're ending up keeping players who are not as good as the ones we're getting rid of.

In this case we're obviously trying to shift the other two as well, I just hope we get it all sorted early enough to get replacements in, we're running out of time.

Difficult to do early, but attack was a priority area. We seem to have left that until last.

The only problem is, that Proschwitz and McLean are so bad, nobody wants to buy them. Especially with the rise in wages from Promotion. Hopefully Posh want a romantic reunion with McLean and some German 2nd Division team want to gamble on Prossy again.

That's a myth though. He had plenty of supply. If he didn't he wouldn't have had time to score hat-tricks and still miss three 1-on-1 chances all in the same game. That season we were regularly having 20 shots a game and half the time still failing to score. Pretty much everyone on here was united in the belief we needed a new striker in the Rickie Lambert/Grant Holt mould. Only later on in the season when Koren, Hobbs and Chester got injured did we really struggle and stopped dominating games and creating chances.

Fryatt will simply be more in demand than the other two so easier to offload.

It wouldnt be a gamble for a German 2nd Division team. He was their top scorer not long ago, that isnt really a gamble.

Doesn't mean he's guaranteed to go back there and be top scorer again?

No it doesnt. But look at his stats in Germany.

    16 goals
    11 goals
    23 goals
    8 goals
    18 goals

It isnt a guarantee as nothing is guaranteed but that really isnt a gamble. That is proven in Germany, just as if that was someones PL record or Championship record that would be proven in those leagues as well. Pro may be **** in England, but he isnt **** in Germany.

So basically, you're saying if some German 2nd League team came in for Proschwitz, they would be guaranteed bags of schools? Because that's what you're implying. I'm saying it would be a gamble because obviously some team would sign him expecting him to be their main scoring force and depend upon him. If it doesn't pay off... Well.

If he was guaranteed to blaze the League, why hasn't he gone already?

Yes 76 goals in 5 years guarantees them goals. How the hell could it not? Find me a player that has scored 76 goals in any league in 5 years then tell me that you wouldn't want them on your team if those goals were scored in the same league you play in.

Waye Rooney? 87 pl goals 5 years. Doesnt Guarantee PL goals?
Wondoloski? 71 mls goals 5 years. Dosnt guarantee mls goals?
Burbatov? 54 pl goals 5 years. Doesnt guarantee PL goals?

Their was an article a couple weeks ago saying that a couple German clubs had inquired about him but that Pro had made it clear he didnt want to return to Germany.

Why hasnt he blazed the league? Because he is **** in england. Bruce is probably right he cant handle the physical nature of it. But dont let that confuse you he is absolutely not **** in the German 2nd division.

I'm not doubting his quality in the German League, I'm just saying it's impossible to say that even with his goal scoring history, he isn't GUARANTEED to go back to Germany and score over 10 again. He would most likely score goals, but it isn't assured.

And I meant if he was to return to Germany and blaze the League, not the Championship.

He is more guaranteed than anyone else a team could buy. He is only 26 and has bagged a ton of goals in that league. Even if it took him a year to get back to form it wouldn't be that much of a risk especially considering the cut rate deal they would get from us to take him off our books.

A player like Fryatt would be more of a gamble to me as he is a year older and coming back off a serious injury.

That's a bloody sobering thought, if SB thinks Hugo Rodellega is a step-up for us. <doh>

I think the who point now comes down to the following.

Prossy did score regularly in the German second division.
Before we signed him, why wasn't there any takers in the Bundesliga willing to take a gamble on him, probably because they didn't think he was good enough?
He came to the 2nd division in England, and could did not hack it, again it is therefore unlikely that he would not make the step up to the EPL.

Therefore all in all I think they only place would be the German 2nd division, but we will probably have to pay part of his wages.

I hope you get a good million for him.

That way they'll be royally ****ed if they don't go up (and with Fryup as their goalscorer, it's likely).

Exactly, a mere debate with opinions and impressions voiced. Isn't that what a Forum's all about? <laugh>

ellewoods is one of the better posters on here IMO.
