Transfer window news in brief ⢠Newcastle table £12m Florin Thauvin bid The Guardian, Friday 30 August 2013 23.15 BST Alan Pardew Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is on the hunt for a replacement for outgoing midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Photograph: Daniel Hambury/PA Thauvin to Newcastle Newcastle United have made a £12m bid for Florin Thauvin, the 20-year-old Lille attacking midfielder but with several suitors for his signature their chances of success appear in the balance. The highly rated Thauvin, whom Lille are desperate not to sell to a Ligue One rival, has been on Newcastle's radar for some time and would be a replacement for Yohan Cabaye, should the France midfielder leave St James' Park for Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain before the end of Monday night. Louise Taylor Who the **** is that I hear you all say? He is a mere 20 years of age and played less than 50 games at 4th division to Ligue 1, scoring 10 goals in total? Now he may well be the next Thierry Henry for all I know but £12m ffs? Smacks of total desperation from both Joke and Partridge to me? Makes our £8m for Connor (who had 140 games at Championship level behind him) seem like a bargain. Big ask for a young kid to come in and be the goal-scoring saviour imo.
Apparently Marseille are interested and it'll be difficult for Newcastle to get him The bid was probably made to appease the fans
Newcastle don't have 12m to spend! Ashley will hoard all kebabs transfer fee till the end of the season where he'll use it (and any other profit) to pay off the debt they're 'not' in
I didn't know where to put this. Not worthy of it's own thread. please log in to view this image Is it all about to kick off?
I'd love it if Bale failed the medical. Levy has spent 100m expecting most of it back and if he failed the medical then where are spurs in the ffp??
A lot of deals will be hinging on this. Right across Europe. This deal needs to go through, it may even affect some of our deals.
See Mata as on of the best players in the league. If they sell Bale for £50m + Mata effectively then they will have done the deal of the millenium imo. proper class player. Why would Chelsea not want him and why's he not playing at the mo?
Rate Mata over Bale more of a rounded player, Bale is all about speed and a decent left foot both good players but if I had a choice I'd go for Mata.
Then is it Spurs interest to confirm the transfer done and dusted a couple of minutes before the transfer window closes ... a spanner in the works for all other pending deals
