I was just playing devils advocate like, but having lived in Northern Ireland for the past 3 years I've met plenty of Man U and Liverpool fans (generally taxi drivers actually) who're season ticket holders and in that sense far more dedicated, traveling hundreds of miles to see their team play despite not being local.
You have made yourself look like an even bigger fool by biting all the time. You haven't proven yourself as 'better', you are just the same.
Yeah that's commitment. Though you've got to also remember that there's a large proportion of people in their club's home city who never go to games - does that mean they aren't proper fans? I'd say it means they aren't proper supporters, but they still identify with the club and wish them well.
Toby, you're the only one who has 'kicked off' and 'lost their cool' in this thread Swearing in an argument = makes said argument entirely void. It's a vulgar way to argue a point with somebody, using such language whilst kicking and screaming. It's okay though, we'll use our 'inside voices' so we don't annoy you too much more
No I actually despise 'fans' who support a team for glory. Don't care whether they stick by them during the rough times (the majority won't).
Weren't you, and your fellow Geordies, complaining a minute ago about judging all Geordies based on a couple of individuals? Err, how much have you spent? 5m euros on Cabaye and a possible £1m on Neil Taylor to replace Enrique. Hey big spenders etc. Carroll will fail? Yeah, you keep clutching on tightly to that little crumb of comfort.
Aye, we've had many a rep filled discussion about the difference between a fan and a supporter on our board. At the end of the day, as a fan who'd only get to a handful of games a season due to being away, I have a huge amount of admiration for those who travel up and down the country (especially in the Championship - Plymouth on a Monday night!) following the team and think there is something special about going to watch the team that you can't pick up over the TV, radio or forums. At the same time, I have a huge amount of admiration for lads who've never even been to Newcastle, who'll sit up at 4am to catch a jittery, grainy stream in some far away country. No real laws or rules on what makes a good fan. But there's plenty that can decide a bad one!
There's a difference between supporting a team for glory (i.e. for the sole purpose of that team being successful) and supporting a team because of glory (i.e. because at the point when you started watching them, they were successful). There's no way of distinguishing between the two until a team slips from success, and since Man U haven't done that, I think it's a bit harsh to start judging individual fans of their as supporters for the purpose of glory. Don't get me wrong, I hate the buggers but I try to be consistent with my principles.
Enrique hasn't gone yet, and having watched him for the last few years, I know fine well that he could do a lot better than Liverpool. Carroll however, great potential, but too big of a move too early. Big strikers always get found out (look at Crouch). I do want to see him fail yes, He will do well for a few years but I am more than happy with the £35m which you gave us. Especially if we get the targets we are after.
Well if everyone is tarring us with the same brush , surely we're allowed to do the same thing right? How much have we spent , well 6m on Cabaye and Taylor , closing in on Gervinho 12m and looking for another striker as well. And the window hasn't even opened yet. And Enrique hasn't left yet , he might stay. Yes , I think he will fail , you clearly don't know how to use him. You just lumped balls at him from defence and hoped for the best. You might as well have paid 35m for Heskey
To be fair, there were a fair few Liverpool fans complaining about Andy Carroll in one of the last games of the season. Apparently had a shocker and doesnt suit the Dalglish style of play. From what I can tell, he's gone from being pretty much the main part of every attack (Us) to just an option(You, with Suarez & others), and the likelyhood there is he wont enjoy as much success as he did for us - where we played to get him at his most effective. Who knows. Maybe thats just me hoping he doesnt. You'll probably know more about how he looks for you lot than me, as I haven't really watched him.
yeah, yeah, yo, Murder's outlaw, that guess I get a city's a broads So I push the Porsche high and truck to court Holla at the judge if the judge made a bad decision I feel like the nigga that triggerin guns with mittens It's hard to get done, I'm hearin that security runs around 30K, if they don't get hit with an AK And found out that the security's runnin another way Like with me, it's Murder, probably
But some whores in this game really don't make sense Bomb roof and via Cal's and clonin Ems But when bullets go through your film, we break your limbs A horror show, yeah picture this Cause I guess you can't see it, it's Murder again
To be fair, i like Carroll, i think he's a brilliant player and think he COULD do well for you. However, you need to be putting good quality balls into the box, you can play long balls but don't just do that. When he's played for you it's like when Crouch plays, the defence just hits a high ball forward and hopes.
If Liverpool sign Barton then they will do well. Barton set up 7/11 of Carroll's goals last season. Says it all to me.
My hatred of him has definitely subsided a little bit...Still not a fan of him and its going to be brutal if/when he scores against us, but at the end of the day, he's naive young lad who had an offer which more than doubled his wages at a club that had just had big money owners move in and will realistically win more silverware sooner than us... He COULD've been a legend, now he's just another premiership player for me!
