I see the Sultans of Spin are at it again, trying to put a few more bums on seats before a home game. Good luck to them, at least they're trying
Put their hand in their pockets and allow the manager to bring us in a couple more players, that is the best way to get the crowd in.
Ross has supposedly had a significant pay increase, if that's not putting their hands in their pocket then I don't know what is...
A moment's silence for the supporter formally known as RMINFS. Marko, like Dr Who, what will you now metamorph into?
I love it how an improved offer gets taken to the levels of "significant" just 30 minutes after it has been officially announced. Tomorrow he will be the highest paid in the division lol The board could have put this to bed when the first offer was made but they decided not to...
We tied our best player down for four years, showing in the process that we're not in the business of selling our best players anymore. We signed our first £1m player in 7/8 years and we've added to the squad well, (admittedly not quite enough yet, but it's a long term building process) in addition to having one of the best Championship managers around, I really can't see much to complain about. Yes we need a couple of extra signings in, but I think it's quite fair on their part to say we really need to offload a few before we bring some in, our wage bill must be pretty big right now. We're paying the price of Warnock and Bates' short term strategy, and it'll take a little while for things to be perfect, both on and off the pitch. I can't see how McCormack signing a new deal could possibly be construed as a negative thing, the guy's the best player in the squad by a mile.
I for one think that if Byram gets back fit we have a team that can make the play-offs no problem.Have re-joined the membership and just bought a Bolton away ticket with my renewed faith of us at last moving forward.
Looking back I didn't word that in the manner I intended - I meant the fact that you were suggesting there were ulterior motives for the board offering him a new contract, and consequently were looking at the renewal in a negative light.
Not a negative light, I am pleased he has signed a new contract however no smoke without a fire, Boro came back three times for him, we should have and could have said not for sale at any price and moved on. Ross had two years left on his contract, this has been spun out and built into hysteria when it need not have been. Boro would not have come back in for him three times had they not been given some kind of impression that just maybe he could go for the right price. Bottom line is I am pleased he is staying, I think there was more to all this saga than we shall ever know but moving on now and looking forward to tomorrows game
I know we have to sell players to reduce costs but as far as I remember we got rid of Bromby Kisnorbo Connolly Rachuba Somma and Morrison on loan and brought in 4 replacements so why can,t we have at least another signing or am I missing something
