I'd like to bring up these 2 points: 1) I was one of the immature ones who took part in the changing of wikipedia. We were well aware that it was immature at the time just as we were well aware that everything we wrote was going to be changed back the original within minutes. This, though you may not agree yourself, was part of the fun, trying to fit in the most obscene or random edit before it was moderated. By all means mock ME, call ME purile - that would make sense, making large sweeping statements about the intelligence of a region based on the actions of a handful of internet forum users is in itself stupid and worthy of retort. 2) You have a bit of a swipe at Steele for implying he is better than you and attempting to belittle/undermine you, yet you did the exact same thing when having a dig at my education, my region, my football team and my fellow supporters. Meh, it happens. As you said, if anything it makes a club bigger and better, that people from all over support that club. I can't help Newcastle have a big fan club and that I support them too. Neither can they. To exclude anyone from outside the city supporting that team is simply ridiculous. But, ya know, they were just the first (and only) team I took to, I had great admiration for Shearer as an England player, it happens. I was only like 6, you just attach yourself to things.

I bet the majority of Man U fans from outside Manchester would stick with their team if they were relegated. Admittedly some would leave, the real floating 'fans' - the glory supporters, but why is someone who supports Man U today from Essex any different from a fan of Newcastle or Leeds from Essex who started supporting our clubs when we won European silverware in the late 60s? Just because he hasn't had the chance to prove he'd stick by his team through the rough doesn't mean he inherently wouldn't. I welcome it. If Lincoln was only full of Lincoln fans, Newcastle only full of NUFC fans and Leeds only full of LUFC fans, it would be boring.
