Liverpool are closing in on a surprise deal to make Shay Given their No 2 goalkeeper.

Given had been linked with a move to Doncaster earlier this summer but that switch failed to materialise and he has remained at Aston Villa, even though he has been told by Paul Lambert he has no future at the club.

However, Brendan Rodgers is aiming to bring in experienced back-up for Simon Mignolet, whom he brought into replace Pepe Reina in June, and has identified Given as being an ideal. Should talks go smoothly, a deal could be completed before the weekend.

Carlisle's main striker has just returned to fitness meaning less game time for Campbell. Bit worrying that they don't think he'd be an improvement for them though.

Hopefully it's no a decision that's been made based on our transfer activity over the coming days.

Campbell's a good little player with plenty of skill and a good shot on him but he isn't the answer to our prayers.

 

Hopefully Campbell is coming back to go out on loan to another club as he needs the experience. For the love of Christ we need a striker! No more bullshit or excuses - the bastards have had all summer to bring adequate reinforcements and no one in but a loanne! I don't want Ba, what we should be doing is bringing in a fresh striker to help out and galvanise Cisse - Ba won't do this and it would be so wrong to see the sulky **** back to take Cisse's place - actually it would sicken me to the core quite frankly.

 

Ferguson will be recalled next,I don't understand why he's out on loan in the first place.

It's being reported on twitter that we've matched Marseille's bid for Thauvin Pathetic given the player has already stated he wants to join them and not us. Why even bid? More and more people are also stating that they've already been told that there will be no incomings or outgoings by Tuesday (although none of the people stating this are particularly reputable).

If the latter part is true then they're just hanging Pardew out to dry and Kinnear has been brought in to get Pardew to walk (which he clearly won't do).

It's just one big horrible mess at the moment and for me 11pm Monday can't come soon enough regardless if we sign/sell anyone.

AB if you don't laugh you'll cry,the nephew texted me about a hour ago and said he's not going over for a match this season and we normally get two in.He said not giving Ashley anymore money,he's adamant but that might change if we win 4/5 on the bounce.My glass is half full but don't know for how long!

 

We can't be as bad as last season so you never know. Here's hoping.
