Saw a funny quote from Martinez earlier.. "The competition would die otherwise because Real Madrid and Barcelona would always have the best players, the ones in form. You need to be realistic with football in general. Of course, players will always like that next challenge and to go to play Champions League football and win trophies. But there are great stories about that. Michael Owen leaves Liverpool to go to Real Madrid to win trophies and Liverpool win the Champions League. In football nothing is guaranteed. Clubs need to be strong – and be allowed to be stronger than the players." Everton fans must of been pissed
I know it's already been mentioned but a recent tweet from James Pearce from the Echo confirms that Toure's injury is nowhere near as serious first feared. There is a still a chance of playing on Sunday.
That's positive, still a big question mark for Sunday though. the Guardian are also reporting that Agger's carrying a thigh injury into the game. #nofitdefenders
Feel sorry for the guy. He looked completely distraught at having to come off. Hoping he comes back from injury making a big impact
ah... 4-6weeks aint too bad. we now already know why he's so cheap and why we should not be buying. he's cover, fine but we can't be doing another aurelio type. in the end..... lets see cos the international break is here to oand he should be back soone enough. a lot to prove i guess I saw agger holding that thigh too on tuesday... great...
I can't remember a season starting like this ever before. There just seems to be no excitement at all - almost as if we are still in pre-season. Well we're not!! We are playing the Mancs on Sunday so let's make some noise sing YNWA and send them back down the East Lancs with their tails between their legs
It's this sodding transfer window still being open and the associated transfers dragging on and on. It should shut the night before the season starts. Look at all the energy being expended on the transfers thread, it's practically glowing and powering about seven mobile phones.
I totally agree with you. All of the clubs across Europe need new regulations about contracts. For me I would have a window that started at the end of the latest season within UEFA and closed at the start of the earliest season within UEFA. Personally I'd go further and ban any moves until after the completion of the contract. I would also not allow managers to be sacked during the season. So we all start knowing the squad that we will have and who will lead it for the the whole season.
Was about to say - Spanish league started 2 weeks after ours didn't it? So are we not allowed to buy but they are? Logistics nightmare. The transfer window is fine as it is.
Alright boys, after indulging in some early week negativity the weekend's here and it's time to start gearing up for some insignificant match I hear we're playing on Sunday. I don't think it's any coincidence that we're playing this game on the eve of what would be the hundredth birthday of our long departed leader. So, let's see some of that famous Shankly fight, that commitment, that desire and relentless aggression. Let's get some hunger in the belly and some fire in the eyes. Let's play them off the park, put a beating on these utter utter dirty Manc ****s, the like of which they've not seen since, oh, 23rd October 2011 when the better side in Manchester took them apart. Let the spirit of Shanks be all around Anfield as we do the same on Sunday, take them back to school and beat them around the head with the textbook, teach them about domination and togetherness. It will be Shanks' hundredth birthday on Monday, we can greet it with a season defining win and it will in turn, when we look at the headlines of the back pages on Monday morning and smile and say '****ing get the **** in', signal the birth, or rebirth, of this club, a pivotal moment in our charge up the table. "A lot of football success is in the mind. You must believe you are the best and then make sure that you are. In my time at Liverpool we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside, Liverpool and Liverpool Reserves." - Bill Shankly.
Bib theory suggests that Coutinho, Lucas, Sturridge, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Gerrard, Henderson all start. Johnson, Wisdom, Sterling, Aspas on bench.. Not sure how accurate that is
