Oh I don't know, we knocked up a good score in response to what was a very good score due to an exceptional innings. At least we tried to go for it. I would agree that from the little I saw of our bowling we did not have a clue against Finch - a lot of well directed yorkers might have done the trick, don't know why we don't bowl more, they scare the crap out of me, I dug one out on Wednesday (it was that or my toe).
I just had a text from Little Miss W_Y - "I am editing and interview with GFZ - what a lovely man he really is". For all the crap we get over loan and foreign players - having GFZ as our manager is something that we should be very proud of. Compare that to the rumour I heard on Wednesday. Apparently Palace are waiting for Pardew to get the elbow and want to appoint him as manager - it seems that Weasel is not like by the fans, board or players. No surprise there then!
I really dont know where the Yorkers have gone. It is a dying art in the England national game, but I fail to understand why, a well bowled yorker will terrify any batsman! I have to eat my words a little, as I could not see us even making 200 after the start we made, but Root did well to steady the ship.
RIP Seamus Heaney. His poems are truly emotive and often had myself and the rest of my GCSE English literature class in tears or close to it. His poem "Mid-term Break" is particularly emotional. As someone who played good club cricket for many years as an opening bowler I'd agree the Yorker is a potent weapon. The reason bowlers don't use in more often is that it allows, unlike a length ball, only a very small margin of error. It's only really a matter of a few inches wrong and you've served up a half volley or a full toss, both likely to be heading for the boundary if the batsman is any good!
