Fair enough. We probably had crossed wires. I've actually liked Young as a player for some time and was only defending him because there were a lot of our fans crucifying him. But I don't buy into media hype. That's why I'm so staunchly anti-Nasri. I don't rate him and no matter how much hyperbole surrounds him, I just don't think his performances have justified it.
Well if you base your judgements on statistics alone then Darren Bent is the best English striker at the moment. He as the most goals and the best minutes/goal ratio out of the English players (correct me if I'm wrong). So therefore in a 4-3-3 system, Bent should start over Rooney?I dont think players can be judged by stats alone. Yes I agree that a CM is badly needed, which is why I also suggest Nasri, at the start of the season where he was playing CM, he was really good. He would also provide cover on the wings. Him and young also have 1 year left of thier contracts, so if we do bid they will come at around the same price, with Nasri being a bit more expensive.
I think Bent should start alongside Rooney, dependant on the opposition. Like Hernandez for us, in certain circumstances, he would be the ideal foil. But against the very best, you would need someone with a more all round game. England don't really have that at all. I think Ashton could possibly have been well suited to that sort of role for England but we'll never know, due to injury.
United don't need any "frazzle -dazzle nutmeg kings" We need players who can get their foot on the ball and make things happen consistently... Players who know when to pass and when to go for goal. Sanchez' decision making isn't always great, he runs into blind alleys and holds the ball for too long. He's a luxury player... Luxury players are okay if they deliver consistently like Ronaldo or Robben. In any case - why would Sanchez join us if he's not guarenteed a starting place? Plenty of other European teams have a place for him. Ashley Young might be good for us because he is a winger who gets as much enjoyment out of crossing a ball as he does scoring a goal. United are a team of width and crosses. If Young was to join us he'd have loads of assists. He's also more versatile. Sanchez may have more 'raw' talent, but Young is the type of Player Fergie likes. But yes, a Centre mid (or two) is the main priority.
Im sorry but Nani had a dip in form? He was moved to the left and continued to play a part in our games. He was nearly hacked in half at anfield aswell which clearly effected him but he was still a threat just not quite as good as he was earlier in the season. Had he remained on the left and not played that game ( or had carragher try and end his career ) he would of continued in the same way. He is also miles better than Young in every way. Hes better than Valencia and hes better than anyone else in the premier league in his position(s). He should of played the Champions League final aswell. Valencia looked lost and was awful. Worse than any performance Nani has ever had for United. Young is around Parks level without the hard work ethic so would be a pointless signing. However if we did sign him I would support him fully as I do with all United players. Just hope we dont. Again, Nani = our best attacking player. No attacking player was consistent this season on the whole but Nani was by far the best. Not bad for a guy who still has haters from his own fans and like another one of our players, continues to step up and prove the doubters wrong.
Nani gets more assists than anyone in the league though. At best Young would be his back up for the left wing though Nani rightfully deserves to be on the right with Valencia as back up.
As you read from my above comments, Nani is really underratted and as you said the best player of our season, and people like Young have more exposure over Nani just because he's English. Yes Nani did have a dip in form, but as I said its no concidence his form dip when valencia returned, as he's moved over to the left. But to judge is overall season it has been fantastic. Like bale won the PFA award, yes I agree he is a good talent, but no where was near effective/productive as Nani.
Nani was POTY regardless of Bale winning the award. Bale had a handful of good games and most of them were in Europe.
Hey baby; c'mon and hop in my fo'-three-oh, S-E And let's see, how quick you fall victim to this G I'm a gangsta BITCH, a mack like Goldie But I never let the strength of this money control money
Read my first comment! He was our second best player this season imo and how you can justify a claim that he was our best over the 10 months, given Vidic's performances and given Nani's substandard finish to the season is beyond me. And AGAIN, his performances didn't suddenly dip when moved to the left, they dipped about a month before that, unless of course you think his displays in February were up to the standard of those earelier in the season. And no, Young isn't as good as Nani, nor have I claimed that he is. What I have said is that when Nani has a poor game and that leads to a poor run of form, due to his fragile ego, then Young would be a useful player to have in our ranks. And believe me, whether we play Nani left or right, he will have a poor spell. Just like Rooney does every year without fail. The key is to have the squad to cope with that and not become reliant on them for their magic. And Young is a completely different player to Park so there is absoloutely no point in comparing them at all.
I said Young is around Parks level. Not that they are the same players. Vidic has been great but in attack Nani was king even with his drop in form ( again linked into the liverpool game ).
ut some whores in this game really don't make sense Bomb roof and via Cal's and clonin Ems But when bullets go through your film, we break your limbs A horror show, yeah picture this Cause I guess you can't see it, it's Murder again
Corbo, Merry has long been a poster on this site and has never lamented City signing Milner. I also never recalled him while on the Beeb's 606 crying out for SAF to sign Milner. I do agree with merry that signing Young would give us better options and a great strength in depth. He is not the bad player some posters make out. However while I wouldn't lose sleep over his arrival, I would also add that I'm content for Nani to stay. But if he goes, well Utd goes on.
Nani was terrific in February Merry, sometimes I question your knowledge, Nani scored against Wolves in that month and was our best player by a mile in that game. He also should have been the MOTM against Man City as he assisted and scored a great goal and played great. He also played good against Wigan where he assisted the 1st goal. His dip in form started when he started to move on the left in preparation for Valencia. He started to play wide left and his first game there was against Wigan but he played well but was a bit inconsistent and then against Chelsea in March when we lost, he played wide left again and played okay but not too well and then he had a horror show against Pool where his leg got split open and that effectively ruined his season and he admitted his confidence was shot.
Am I the only one still unconvinced by Nani, and still perplexed by the lack of consistency he shows?
Hasn't he shown consistency throughout the season? 10 goals for a winger and leading assiter. Player of the year. How can he get more consistent?
Vidic is player of the year, but whatever. No, he hasn't shown consistency throughout the season. If Nani is on the pitch and Uniteds backs are against the wall, he is, quite simply, useless. Definitely has the talent at his disposal, but just doesn't always fill me with a lot of confidence.
