What are you on about???? At what point did I say he wasn't good enough or that being outside contenders wasn't good enough?! You just dodged all my main points and replied to some made-up comment I made about him not being good enough. You can't say we should be "ashamed of ourselves" then when someone gives you reasons why they hate him for the way he has treated the fans and the club, completely ignore all their points and get your knickers in a twist. Also none of us are mad at him for leaving - Madrid are massive and all through his career he's said he'd like to play in Spain. It's the disrespectful, insulting way he has gone about it that's the problem.
to me, every great player that leaves us can't be a ****. it's too much of a coincidence, so it must be something else. footballers are professionals, and they;ll do what they think's best for their careers. i personally think it's a shame that we can't find it in ourselves to find some pride in our great players after theyve left us, as well as when they are with us.
Oh come on. Berbatov, Modric and Bale were dicks. Huddlestone, Jenas, Keane, VDV, Caulker, Postiga, Pavlyuchenko, Kranjcar, Ziegler, Boateng, Kaboul, Crouch, Robinson, Gomes, Cudicini, Hutton, Carrick .... the list goes on for pages - Weren't dicks when they left and we didn't treat them as such. Bale is being a twat.
The big difference with those you listed is that the "dicks" were all subject to extremely high profile transfers with significant media scrutiny. The assessment of Bale at this stage is a bit harsh as we do not know what advice he has received and what he has said to the club. I am not happy about him not turning up for training but there has been a lot worse behaviour from a lot more footballers over the years. The fact he remained silent throughout the summer while we got all this business done is good, and he could have acted a lot differently if he was trying to force this through, which might have been very detrimental to our other transfer dealings. That assessment is premature and overdone. I agree with RobSpur on this one.
And they were key players for us when they left. The only ones who seemed to escape it were keane and vdv, even though keane said it was his boyhood dream to play for liverpool. even with carrick everyone spent the next 3 years saying how **** he was and how he wouldnt even get in our team. i suspect the reason keane and vdv didnt get stick was that DL thought he was getting a decent deal out of it and let them go without too much fuss and/or because they left during the closed season (which would fit with vimhawk's theory).
It makes no sense why Chelsea would bid for Eriksen. Are they collecting midfielders like pokemon cards? Willian in my opinion was excess to requirements for them.
Sorry I don't buy into your argument. Facts are facts, whatever the reason. Fact is that Bale is quite obviously " on strike" refusing to play or train. Making his "friend" AVB, look bloody stupid and helpless. Comparisons with other players' behaviour doesn't wash with me either. So, some players have behaved like bigger dicks than Bale. So, IN COMPARISON, he's not behaving like a dick. Oh we'll, that's o.k. then!!...sorry, No, it's not o.k.
out of interest, would you rather now that we hadnt signed bale in the first place, because he missed a training session ?
You are obvioulsy angry about Bale's no show NSIS like many Spurs fans. I'm not because atm I don't know enough about the siutuation and I don't know why he hasn't shown. Bale can retreive the situation when he finally gets to speak for himself. If, as I expect he thanks the fans and Spurs for his time here that will throw a different light on it. If not I might join you.
it's no less inane than a view that bale should be remembered by spurs fans for doing a disservice to the club for missing a training session. a spurs fan having a view like that about a player who has given the club so much, is like a child being given a room full of christmas presents and then spending christmas day having a tantrum because he didnt like some of the wrapping paper. it's a view which is childish, naive, petulant, unreasonable and incredibly ungrateful.
