Interesting article in the Manchester Evening News in respect of Manchester's 2018 world cup bid and its cost. To be fair to Manchester council it has to be said that if England had been selected to host the event, they did have grounds in place that met the criteria. Anyone want to go over what happened with the Hull bid? http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...aled-manchesters-350k-bill-disastrous-5816294
Let's face it, as long as Platini/Blatter are calling the shots, we haven't got a prayer. Russia have some nice stadiums and I'm sure they're well equipped, but I can't help but think of this when I consider going to watch games... I was thinking more of the Hull bid and the fact that the owners of "The jewel in the crown" were prepared to enter into the bidding process in the first place.
Belgium/Netherlands have never had it either. It was obvious that the bids were decided by who had the biggest brown envelope. Russia should have come last behind England, Spain/Portugal and Belgium/Netherlands. There is no need to spend millions on infrastructure and stadia in those 3 bids, all 3 have many world class stadiums. As for the Hull bid... Milton Keynes. What a joke.
