With Pod out for 10 weeks, the reality of Di Maria is looking more likely. But I hope they are working on more than a few deals at the moment, we need at least 3-4 players in and we know how deals can fall apart easily.
We'll see Spurs will have spent 1OOm by the time the window closes. That is a **** load of cash on a par with Chelsea and City trying to buy the league. If you don't finish in the top four this season it's going to be a monumental waste of cash. The pressure most definitely is on the spuds to justify that huge outlay this season.
And if we sell Bale for the figures being quoted we will break even so your continuous comments on us spending on par with City and Chelsea is the same usual BS that comes out of your keyboard.
Really? So if you signed Di Maria, Ozil and Benzema there would be no difference in your mind if you spent the cash in the bank or if you sold Wilshere, Cazorla and Walcott to fund them......
When clubs get a massive fee for a player its rare for them to invest it all back into new signings. I know we wouldn't..
Is it possible that Real get cold feet in the last minute and pull out of the Bale deal? Then the spuds will be facing bankruptcy!
What's that got do to do with anything? My point was that you've spent a lot of money, 100m spent is 100m spent, regardless of how you came by the cash. If it were us then it would have been through years of saving, but you got lucky with the Bale deal, but whatever way you want to look at it - 100m is a **** load of cash to spend in one window and is on a par with the approach that City and Chelsea have taken in the past when they've tried to buy the title.
It's got everything to do with it! Jesus Christ. If Bale is still here come Tuesday morning then you have a valid point.
It i s now clearly a ploy of Levy to delay the Bale deal until Monday to fook up any deals Wenger might do with Madrid while getting all his own signings in (just confirmed Chireches deal).. Franco Baldini has made a big difference for the spuds while we have a numpty like Gazidis fooking up all our transfers and taking home £2.1million....
I still don't understand the point you are making. We've raised £110m by selling players - what are we supposed to do with the money? We are not 'buying' the title in the same way that the nouveau riche clubs have managed - we're simply prudently investing our football related gains back into highly skilled players who will improve our team. Your manager is on record that he has a similar budget but can't find anyone to improve yours so he hasn't spent anything yet.
I'm not saying it's bad business. You raised the money you've spent - as long as Bale is sold. The point I'm making is that whatever way you want to look at it 100m is a **** load of cash to spend in one window and given the amount spent, then anything less than top four is going to be a disaster.
