For me, my use of this forum has been inversely proportional to my use of social networking. A few years ago, Facebook would take up like 90% of my online activity. Nowadays I barely use it and it's all about this site and Reddit instead. I think it's a good thing, because I've basically directly replaced banal, repetitive, mindless browsing with interesting and thought-provoking discussion.

I still get out, thankfully, but everyone likes to set some time aside to sit around and do nothing, and I think this is a far better use of that time than mindlessly browsing photos and liking statuses. (Granted, it would probably be more productive to be sleeping at this particular time).

Yeah, it's the same for me. I'm still only a reddit lurker but I spend a lot of time lurking on it. Use Twitter a fair bit, but for conversation rather than harrassing people with details of my life. I've not used Facebook for anything other than the chat facility in over a year.
 
Twitter has never been a part of my internet routine, and the main reason is probably that none of my friends really use it either. If you follow the right people then it's a good aggregator of news and info and whatnot, but I must only spend about two minutes a day on it. Also the average Twitter user is just the most annoying kind of person.

My Reddit use is mainly just lurking as well, because that's all you really need. Occasionally I have the overwhelming urge to correct someone or call them a ****, but mainly it's just a really good way to read expert opinions on pretty much anything.

On another front, I could go off Cal Crutchlow by Saturday morning. He's in competition with our favourite predicting football pundit. I'm hoping he gives a polar response to the unripe lemon eater. But if he doesn't, I'm Vale's for ever and ever, so there.

Apparently numerous complaints have been made to the moderation team? I'm not quite sure you guys would be unaware of the issue if this is the case. I've not seem CBK get personal like other users so am not entirely sure as to why he has been threatened with a ban. Far worse has gone under the radar in the past.

Overall, it just seemed a bit of a quick fire and trigger-happy response that caused more issues than it has solved. In my opinion, of course.

EDIT: I also thought Beddytare was no longer a moderator. To my mind, the moderators are TSS, Qwerty, St Brendy and ChannonFodder. In fact, it was confirmed in this thread, that Beddy was no longer going to do it: http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...nging-up-his-boots?highlight=qwerty+moderator

AS I told you in a Pm DTLW you do not have all the facts. The comment he made about it being a load of crap was not the reason for my note to him. You have your opinion and you are entitled to it. If you make abusive comments about or to people then you would expect some reaction, the abusive comment was deleted. His comment about it being a load of crap was not the cause of the disagreement. Surely we all have opinions......is mine any the less than yours because you disagree. I just feel if you cannot make a post without insulting someone then why post it at all.
Incidentally I didn't threaten to ban him at all....those were his words. My reference was to the fact that he frequently insults people and if he carried on then he could be asked to leave rather than leaving voluntarily. I will not be making any other statements about the matter as far as I am concerned it is closed.

I see both sides to this , but simple fact IMHO is it is all to do with OIL .

If Iraq had invaded Kuwait , and Kuwait was the worlds largest exporter of Carrots , would we have gone to war over it ?

NO .. ( unless we were Rabbits of course )


OIL is the reason for the wests interest in the middle east end of .

Very interesting. I know it has been considered for some time that life (at least the first initiation of it) on Earth may have arrived in meteorites. It does seem that for life to develop (as we know it, Jim) there has to be the juxtaposition of so many factors. It's amazing it ever got started. I have always wandered why there is a tendency for complicated life forms to appear when the natural state of the Universe is towards chaos. Good old DNA and it's desire to replicate.

I missed all the fun as my wife took me out to Oxford for my birthday ... bless her, cue "Happy Birthday FLT, you don't look a day over 44" ....

anyway. Don't know what happened, but it is a shame if CBK got a ban... he can be very provocative, but an important part in the make up of this excellent community. I have had several disagreements with him and he can be antagonizing (as I can too), however I do hope he returns here quickly, as it is characters like him that make this place what it is. I only hope he really did do or say something worthy of a ban; it would be a shame if it was for something petty.

This is not having a dig at any mod or whoever issued the ban.

Plus, he was 94, he deserved a little grace ...... <whistle>
 
Really don't understand why so many men find others having different opinions so provocative. Understandable if you are talking about racism, fascism or human rights, but opinions on players or tactics!! I can see how pub fights start.

No mate he hasn't been a banned at all..........Just a reference I made to the fact that if he didn't like what was written on this forum as he frequently doesn't why stay on here basically. With him continually insulting people he would be forced to leave rather than voluntarily leaving. I too happen to like his point of view sometimes and would not like him to go....but......he has to stop insulting people.....Simple as that.
 
I don't really care what others opinions are to get annoyed etc, as i'm always right.....
