Former QPR Defender Christopher Joins Anzhi Exodus To Dynamo Moscow

Anzhi are still cashing in on their star players with Congo center back Christopher Samba heading to Dynamo Moscow.

Dynamo have also signed goalkeeper Vladimir Gabulov and winger Alexei Ionov. Earlier this month, left back Yuri Zhirkov, midfielder Igor Denisov and forward Alexander Kokorin all joined Dynamo from Anzhi, who are in the process of shedding high-salary players as part of a massive budget restructuring.

Former Blackburn Rovers player Samba, 29, moved to Russia in 2011 and quickly established himself as one of the top defenders in the Russian Premier League.

The 6-foot-4 center-back returned to England in January, joining Queen’s Park Rangers, but after the club was relegated to the Championship, he returned to Anzhi, making five appearances this season and scoring against Dynamo in a 2-1 defeat last month.
“Everybody wants to win and I’m grateful to Dynamo that they gave me this opportunity to have that flame again, to strive to get victories,” Samba said at a press conference. “I had good time in Anzhi, but I’m looking for a better time here.”

Dynamo have won two of six matches to start the Russian Premier League season and sit eighth in the table on nine points.

Looks like we were very lucky getting our money back on him just before the change in Anzhi management strategy. Wonder what his transfer fee was and wages are at Moscow Dynamo?

    Sounds like our current situation?

I feel sorry for Chris. It seems like he has gone from the frying pan and into the fire. I hope he doesn't starve. <whistle>

Wonder if HR would have kept him if he was on a smaller salary...............still, financial greed as in high salaries is going to keep someone who is a decent defender out of the UK.

Article 5 Paragraph 3 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, the regulation should be applied as stated.’

This rule dictates that a player can be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season but can only play for two of them — with the sole exception of a move between clubs with overlapping seasons.

    I asked Bushman on Thursday...
