To be fair he started at Southampton and did cost us around £10m I think?

I have no problem seeing him go as I said at the very start of the window if we get over £70m we should sell him in a heartbeat. Don't wanna keep regurgitating my other posts but in short he was very frustrating and often completely killed any momentum we had in games. His moments of magic will mean he's always got a special spot in my Spur's Heart as he's someone I backed the moment he made the move even when others thought he was ****e and I'm glad he became the player I thought he could.

£90m is like being given 10 spoons of sugar to help you swallow a bitter pill the size of a pea. Also the way he has acted in the last few weeks make me more than happy to have him gone. If it was Messi or Ronaldo treating our club that way I'd respond no differently. A player that refused to play or train can **** off <ok>

In his case all they've been hoarding is a crock. My post was tongue in cheek, Levy is hardly going to break the transfer record again on him at his age, if he did, without haste I'd have to come up there and slap him about a bit! :)

In footballing terms Soldado would love a no.10 like him.

Chelsea have bid and Ajax have now turned down our offer that they'd previously agreed :(

Just that he is probably on 2.4 million euro wages a year, going up to 2.6m. Chelsea haven't made a last minute bid, they just turned down Ajax for a loan deal with Van Ginkel

Can the mods ban YV? Might need a majority decision on that one.

Watch it! United we stand! Hmm! perhaps, United we can't stand! that better. Now who do you want to ban SD? Consider your reply carefully because it may be held against you.

    No pressure! :emoticon-0116-evilg

I would agree with some of the previous comments re Bale. I must say his recent behaviour has surprised me. I thought he was not the kind of person to pull these stunts. It's now becoming clear that he both refuses to train or play for the club that gave him his future.

So, yes, he can now just **** off!...

So aparently Chelsea are willing to move Torres on.

I fully believe he would be absolutely unbelievable in our system.

    - His workrate and desire to get on to the end of balls is fantastic. Might even be able to chase down some of Dawson's long balls...
    - He can sit deep behind Soldado or alongside (appreciate we'll lineup with 1 striker but if we are 2-0 down say)
    - His pace would aid our quick breaks when we have the likes of Lamela and Lennon playing
    - He plays off the shoulder of the striker which from what iv seen of Erikson he likes playing the ball in behind
    - We play fairly direct
    - He still has the ability but needs the confidence from Manager / Fans - I think he'd certainly get that from us / AvB
    - Soldado is great, but more of a penalty box poacher- we saw against Swansea he just sits and waits for his chance, if we cant break them down he doesn't touch the ball - against teams like Stoke Torres can pick a pass and would also be happy to drop deep / pull out to the wings and swap places with Chadli and Lamela and help us find a different way through the defensive teams

Do I think well get him? Probably not, highly unlikely that Chelsea will do business with Levy after Modric saga but if we only made 1 more signing before Tuesday he'd be my choice.

a few fans seem to have this view.

personally i find it absolutely incredible.

not only has this guy given us inspiring performances over the last couple of season above the standard of any player we've had for years, and singlehandedly kept us in the hunt for a champions league place last season, but his quality has meant that we have been able to buy the kind of players we couldnt have dreamed of even a few seasons ago.

we are an outside contender for the league title now, and it's because of gareth bale. fans who wish him ill because he missed a training session ought to be ashamed of themselves in my opinion.

    I disagree.

We are an outside contender because of Bale. I think we still would have spent around £60m (Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli, Eriksen, Capoue) if he stayed thanks to TV money / to keep Bale. If Bale stayed we would BE title contender, not outsiders.

As for your last line... He's refused to play the first 4 games - it's painstakingly obvious he hasn't been injured, and is now looking like hes going to refuse to play in the NLD.

You say we should be ashamed of ourselves for turning on him, I say he should be ashamed for turning on millions of Spurs fans that adore him and have showed absolute faith in him when he was going through terrible moments, have chanted his name and treated him like a king. If he wants to leave that's fine but show the fans some respect that pay thousands of pounds to come and see him and chant his name.

It is disgusting, childish and disrespectful to the fans and the club that gave him his career, that he refuses to play or train.

It's like one big "**** you" to everyone

well, if you don't think being an outside contender for the league's good enough, then i can see where you're coming from.

if only the selfish **** was better than maradonna, we could have had a REAL go at this thing. the fans spend all season singing his name out of kindness to him, just because he scores a few flukey goals, and then he goes and plays worse than being better than maradonna so we're not nailed on the league title when he leaves. what a selfish **** he is.

Well, I'm not ashamed. Bale, however, should be. The club is far more important than him, or any other player. Yes, he made an outstanding contribution last year, but he should also remember who stuck with him, persevered, when nobody else wanted to know.

I repeat, any player, including the increasingly self-deluded Mr. Bale who thinks he can just refuse to train or play to force the club into acceding to his demands, can not just **** off - they can **** RIGHT off!!...
