In recent years we've been knocked out of this competition by a succession of lower league clubs, L*t*n last year. MK Dons the year before and I've given up trying to remember before then! Our one saving grace may be that you are a better class than the others so we may actually win!
I feel the winner will be the one who wants to win more - we'll just be running into a set of Tuesday/Saturday games whilst your Premier league season will be in full swing. Going by last night I do think we would need to field a stronger side physically if nothing else to really test you - Elmander for one is top quality on his day.
If both teams put out reasonably strong sides then it would be a good test of whether we will be able compete in the Prem should we get promoted.
I doubt you got knocked out of the LEAGUE cup last year Canary-dave. Poor chaps up the M1 have forgotten what that competition is.
You're right, it was the FA Cup! When you get to my age you're allowed the odd memory lapse if I remember correctly!
A great draw for us. Everyone involved in WFC wants us to be playing in the top flight, so the opportunity test ourselves against a good PL side is one to be relished. Despite important league games for both teams either side of this fixture, I can see Zola and Hughton fielding strong starting line-ups - should be a cracker!!
