Now lets get this straight before you jump down my throat. I want laudrup to succeed as much as everyone else and i attend every home match in a positive frame of mind and watch every away game on my laptop feeling the same....But as a realist and our performance since the middle of last season i am not impressed at the way we have lost our way to dominate and grind out results with flair and outstanding skill that everyone in football admired and crowed about...What has changed and why has our style of play that we watch now don't resemble anything like we use to play. I think we have one of the best squad of players outside the top 6 but the way we play now is nothing but average and even the media have said much the same thing....Now there is no need to panic but how long do we say that enough is enough and that laudrup is not the manager for us with his style of play. I think myself that 10 games should be the cut off point because if we are bottom and losing ground on the rest then we will need to have enough time with a new manager to crawl our way towards safety.....now i'm not saying laudrup wont get it right i'm saying what if he doesn't and when should the club look for someone else..... Lets hope we improve our playing style that we all know is a winner....

I see no reason to change anything at a Club that finished 9th in the Premier League, won the League Cup and has just qualified for the Group stages of the Europa League.

Dai it is too early to panic - I agree that after 10 games we will get an idea of where we are! Until, and after then we should get behind the manager and team - we have lost our first two games; one against the champions and the second against a team who will be challenging for a top four spot! There is no disgrace in that.

Laudrup has assembled a very useful squad of players and I believe that they will see us through this season - it will be very hard given our European commitment but I think we have the strength in depth to survive! I may be proved wrong but there is no way that I will ever lose faith in the team or manager - I will support them to the bitter end, and if that means we are playing Championship football next season - so be it!

I will still be renewing my season ticket and shouting just as loudly from the Tesco stand. I am hoping I will still be supporting a premier league team next season, but if not I will still be just as passionate!

So keep the faith Dai - a long way to go this season so don't let your pessimism get you down - we are still in this league and our fate is in our own hands! <cheers>

I do agree with Dai on one point, we are not playing well currently, but Laudrup has made this a "spanish" club, sacking Laudrup at any given time will probably have an extreme negative impact on the Swansea squad. However as some have pointed out, its early days, lets give the squad a chance and we can judge things by wintertime.

Think about it Dai, we played great football right up to the cup final, then our 'Players' switched off for the rest of that season, but we had got enough points to stay at 9th? We will be fine this season, by the way we have had a lot of transfers in, and the squad is bigger, and it takes time to gel, and get the continuity back, but it will come good!......................<ok>

Dai cannot understand the change in style, well how many new players last season? How many this season? you cannot have this many new faces on the field of play, and expect not to lose some of our original game identity, and until these players find form, we'll just have to be patient, but it would help if the players like Shelvey and De Guzman are dropped to the bench when their basics of football are clearly not up to our high standards we have developed since the Martinez era!................<ok>

Dai has laid out a controversial position but it's these threads that get us all thinking and debating.

Some fair points, I think, but I agree with swans-cartoonhead ... too early yet to make a determination of how the season is likely to swing. And even if ML was to be cast aside as the scape-goat, who would you hire to replace him that could "right the ship". Any managerial firing inside the season without somebody suitable lined up is bordering on an act of desperation or folly, or the current guy is so rank that anybody could be expected to do better. We are so far from that point that it's almost farcical to consider it.

However, we appear to have lost our keep possession discipline, patience and focus, forsaken or sacrificied for the expedience of more offensive thrust. Pretty ****ing good to watch when it comes off, but self-defeating, frustrating and fraught with risk when it doesn't. Tonight was a classic example. The Swans of Rogers and Sousa would have, could have held on to the ball for ages against this PP team and made them chase shadows and the ball all over the field - somebody commented that the field was not conducive - perhaps, but not sure about that.

In attempting to add flair and offensive thrust I think we have lost something of our old tiki-taka ways. A better balance needs to be struck, or we need to be a lot sharper and accurate with the flair stuff. The quality of the final pass / cross / shot / tackle - the individual skills are what we need to smarten up on - these elements of the game degrade when players attempt to operate outside their envelope of competence - perhaps it's time to get players to execute near perfectly what they are most comfortable doing.

We have the best squad of players we have had in over 30 years. It would be interesting to see Toshack's team play against our current best XI. They are too good to be putting out so-so performances on an individual and team level; it's time to start to excel. We may still lose games, but at least we walk away after the fact with dignity, knowing that we did all that we could, which is all there is to do.

Good post Yankee - agree with most of that! I think we have enough quality to see us through; think our season will start in October; there is no shame in losing to manure and spurs - think we would expect to lose to those two! But think WBA is a game we should get something from - if we don't it won't be the end of the world but it would put us in a pretty precarious position with games against Arsenal and Liverpool to follow! I think we need at least a point against WBA to give us some confidence going forward!

And Dai - chin up mate - keep on keeping on - don't always agree with you, but you are a very integral part of this board! Keep the faith mate. <cheers>
