Fair play to Pardew for calling him out in public, also pretty much confirms that it was Cabaye's choice not to play and not Pardew's.

I hope that Anita isn't over looked for Cabaye though, I think he's earned a run in the team for me and hope to see him start the next few games. Pardew also confirmed that Remy will be on the bench and that he's still hopeful of one or two signings.

Good to hear Pardew putting his foot down for me. I think with the senior players (especially Cabaye and Tiote) he's always been too supportive both in his press conferences and in his team selection (they both nearly always play when fit). Was also good to read Pardew's pre match quotes regarding last night's game where he told the young lads to perform or leave.

I think he needs to get his ruthless streak back from the season we finished 5th and hopefully he's starting to do that. He got too close to some of players for my liking and too many became comfortable under him knowing they'd play the following week no matter what (Cabaye, Tiote, Jonas to name a few).

Hope Sissoko and Anita continue to get picked and perform well so that Tiote has a job on his hands to get back in to the first 11 (Pardew confirmed Tiote will again be missing for the Fulham game).

Of the two signings he's hopeful of he said that we're after another striker and a fair play to help provide better service for Cisse.

If Cabaye walks straight back in to the team do people think the players will be boosted or do you reckon it'll have a negative effect on them???

Cabaye walking into the team would be a disaster. I can't imagine Pardew's that stupid, I think it's just more games to get Arsenal/PSG to pull their finger out and get shot of him. Pardew mentioned a week ago we had "a masterplan" for the end of the window. Most of us feel that Cabaye's sale impacts heavily on this (though unrelated to the striker bids) and that it's all about getting top dollar so we can fund moves for at least one more (Ince/McCarthy). I can still see us getting three in before the window closes.

That said, I think Sissoko/Anita has a huge potential as a partnership. I also feel that both Gosling and Tiote can actually augment this in different ways, Bigi can support and - frankly - I don't want Cabaye back in after what he's done. I don't think Pardew knows how to get the best out of him anymore, and also it usually means sacrificing Anita, who I think most of us really like. Not only that, but Sissoko gets pushed too far forward.

PS. Just found out that we've had two call ups by France....Sissoko and Debuchy!! Suck on that, Yohan. Can't wait to see what happens when he's sat on the PSG bench.

I wouldn't have the little sh*t anywhere near the team after the way he's conducted himself and I actually don't think Pardew's got any intention of playing him.

Get rid of the garlic marinated twat.

Can we do Joke in ear under the trades description act re his job title cos he certainly aint fulfilling it. Cabs on the bench with a run out last 30 mins if he`s needed. Get Vuckic loaned out as he was nowhere to be seen last night and Marv might as well not have turned up.

So just to be clear Jim, you wouldn' t play him? <laugh>

I know what you mean, I'm disappointed he has chosen to go down the route of not playing. I think Pards is doing the right thing as he has to protect the club. He has to be wary of situ where he ends up staying too though. I think he has handled the whole thing very well. Whether Cabaye has explicitly said "I'm not playing" or Pardew has taken the view his heart isn't in it, he has done the right thing to take him away from the group. But I can see why he might involve him in a squad (I wouldn't start him). If he does stay it is easier to do that after the window closes if he has already been involved. Otherwise you might get a rather nasty atmosphere towards which won't serve anyone well.

I think it is best he goes now as he has made it clear its not for him. Bernard who is close to a few of our french lads has made it clear last night that Cabaye has caused plenty of unrest. Not just because of the general situ but also he mentioned the world cup, they are clearly down in the dumps that we've signed dick all and are about to lose one of our supposed better players. I was getting the feeling that they are worried we'll struggle and their world cup chances will suffer. You can get an unhappy camp and everyone then looks for excuses/people to blame. Not just Pards, but each other and this is where you might get cliques forming.

I really appreciated the move by the French FA/Deschamps calling up Debuchy and Sissoko, but leaving Cabaye out. I think it was a really positive message for the club.

I'd dump him on the bench. You can't switch commitment on and off like that.

Indeed. It makes you question the whole of last season and the impact it had. Obviously he wanted off to Spurs then. I defended him saying maybe fatigue was a problem after no rest. Perhaps the problem was more his heart wasn't in it. I suppose you have to question the manager/board though if that is the case. Was it the right thing to hang onto him?

I agree that he shouldn't be shown he can saunter back in, but if we aren't going to sell him then he also needs to be shown that he has a way back in. Frankly, I would want a move to Arsenal if I were him as well. If it's not going to happen, he needs to know that it is possible to put this episode behind him and also be motivated to put it behind him. Combination of stern talking to and arm around the shoulder.

As for last season, he had played a lot of football and he is a depressive. Saying "snap out of it" to a depressive is a waste of time. It's also a waste of time for the depressive to say "snap out of it" to himself - - most depressives spend half their life doing it and it doesn't work. It may well have been more complex, though, than simply not being arsed because he wasn't happy to be here.

They're in a catch 22 where they don't want to be buying when clubs know there's an extra £20m in the bank, but don't want to be spending if that money's not definitely coming in.
I'd expect they want to get a confirmed move for him but want to sign the replacements before he gets shipped out.
They're not stupid enough to think this team can cope purely on the basis we survived last year and have 9 less European games this year.
Or their plan was revolving around the Bale sale, which hasn't gone to plan yet.

I can see a situ where we sell Cabaye, Everton sell Feillani, and with little time left in the window we are in a straight fight for McCarthy which Everton win. We are fed the line "We tried for McCarthy but once he chose Everton we didn't want to panic buy"

I'm becoming ever more cynical about this window. I was quite happy to bide our time but it just as all the hallmarks of a knacker job.

Come on Kinnear, just get Gomis and a winger and I'll be happy. We know Cabaye is going, we know a replacement will be brought in at the earliest January but please for the love of Christ just bring some reinforcements in you fat old pissflap

Where is the £16m we were going to spend on PEA. Can't we use that to buy in players. Then it doesn't matter so much if Cabaye is sold last minute with no time to spend the money.

I was thinking that, why are we waiting to sell cayabe to come up with the funds when all summer we have been banding around below par offers for players.
Anyway this season we will not only go down we will beat records of lack of points

Surely there's gotta come a point where we have to say he's not for sale, purely and simply because we can't replace him with someone equally as good. I'd say if a deal isn't done over the weekend we need to put it to bed so we can concentrate on OUR business of bringing in a striker which there was clearly money for before arsenal turned Cabaye's head !

This is true liverpool said they would not sell Suarez ad they can't replace him, the sole reason we should sell him is if we are guaranteed to get our targets in simples unlike normal when we get shafted

In Ashley's mind where do 'replacements' fit in?

Every player has a price written up on a whiteboard. If the price gets matched then that's it. The helicopter is fired up, the PR machine is fired up and the fans, for other reasons, get fired up.

Replacements, quite simply, do not come into the equation.
