We've had it on easy street for too long now and it's time we got a competitive group. Apart from ****ty Marseille, the other two matches will be a big test and great to watch. I'd love to get tickets to watch Dortmund play us at the Emirates, but good luck to me on that one!
Out of all of the teams, Celtic have the hardest group, followed by us, Man City, Man U and Chelsea with the easiest.
To be fair I don't think there's any combination of teams that would have given Celtic a chance, at least with this draw they get a couple more glory nights at celtic park
Absolutely. Just said on the Liverpool board, when we were in the draw (...) I always wanted to draw the better sides from each pot. The big games are what football (and inparticular the CL) is all about. All the best in getting out of the group
We've got a tough group but it's far from the group of death. Apart from Dortmund, Napoli are beatable and we are clearly better than Marseille. On paper too, Napoli aren't that hot either and they have a new manager in charge with Benitez. If we bring in good players over the next few days, then we have a decent chance of going through, otherwise we're just making it more difficult for ourselves.
That is a tough group guys....good luck, Seriously, hope all PL clubs do well, keep our coefficient up
I don't think the group is as bad as people say. We should realistically get 10 points, we should be able to beat Marseille home and away, we should beat Napoli at home and i can see us drawing in Italy. Don't see us getting anything from Dortmund though. It's possible we could sneak a draw at the Emirates, but this current squad will get battered at the Westfalen
I agree. The only issue is if we get too many injuries and don't get proper reinforcements in. We will have ourselves to blame really if we don't.
Actually, scrap what i said. I forgot about the Benitez factor that Napoli have. In the league, he may be a fat clown, but in europe he's a tactical god. So Napoli are going to be very tough.
I admire your optimism and that's the way you should be, but there is a really danger you could finish bottom here too. Marseille aren't a pushover, Napoli certainly aren't and Dortmund are Dortmund. Personally, I think you'll... - beat Mareseille at the Emirates and draw in France (4pts) - lose to Dortmund in both or lose away and draw at the Emirates (0/1pt) - Lose in Italy and either draw or win at home.(1/3pts) That would get you 5, 6 or 8 points IMO. Not sure that would be enough. Hope I am wrong though as I always want to see English clubs do well in Europe (well, apart from Man Utd obviously) and I actually like Arsenal too
Arsenal are not fantastic, but you underestimate us too much, ****ing seriously? Coming last? You do know we've beaten the likes of Munich, Milan, and Dortmund in the past few seasons with roughly the same squad at our disposal? Not to mention we're consistently in the top 4 in the English Premier League, which is no easy cookie, yes we're not the strongest team, but we're not exactly dog **** either as you're trying to make us out to be saying we're going to come last.
Well done I didn't say you would finish last, I said there is a real danger. In other words, there is a danger of being over optimistic! I don't think you will finish last but its not beyond possibility in that group. Edit: you guys are capable of beating all three teams you're up against, I just don't think you will. A difference of opinion doesn't automatically mean 'a wum'
