The OT threads on everything under the sun annoy me but we all know what happened last time. Wanyama would improve our first team becuase he adds quality competition to Lucas which is a spot we really only have 1 player in. Osvaldo can be a character but he is a quality player, would improve our attacking trio. I can understand jury out on Lovren as he can be compared to maybe an Alderweilded, but I think he would improve our CB positions. He has CL experience and used to the pressures of a big club. Anyway, yarmolenko, do we think it will come off?
Damien Comolli. Been there, bought the heavily overpriced t-shirt when we needed a reasonably cheap pair of trousers.
I edited my last comment but I'll post it here instead: Osvaldo - Sturridge is on fire and would be picked ahead of him but it would strengthen the squad Wanyama - Lucas is better but it would strengthen the squad Lovren - Toure and Agger would still be first choice for me but it would strengthen the squad Ramirez - I wanted him last summer but apart from the odd glimpse, he was **** last year All four would be squad signings IMO
Why is everyone obsessed with who the spuds are signing? The players they have signed might be good on FIFA or whatever kids computer games people judge players on these days but most of them still have to prove themselves in a top league. They have only got six points because of a terrible decision by the ref in the first game against relegation fodder and a dive by a cheating spud in the second game. Only time will tell if spurs can cope without Bale.
Three injuries on Tuesday, two of which were to players who aren't even first teamers. The only concern is Toure off injured, he's been a beast for us, so what he'll miss one game maybe? Surely he'll be back after the internationals. People can be so negative, get a grip. It could be worse, we could be Arsenal, no signings that will improve first team and they have a **** load of injuries.
Think you could see a revived Ramirez as he wasn't really an Adkins style player but should suit pochetino better. Agree on Sturridge, also with Osvaldo, it is the point of a quality player signing for a team with no CL for 15 mil. These guys are out there, we just seem to struggle to get them and it is frustrating. Forget spurs and everyone else ( I will try to ) but why do we keep stumbling when he hit this type of number? There have been question marks around Ayre for a few years now, wonder if it is him, the comittee, BR, FSG, everyone? I know it is hard to say but it does suck in simplest terms.
I can't answer for LFC but I can hazard (see what I did there!) a guess that they did not rate Eriksen - at least not as highly as £12M. Does that mean that we got it wrong because some other team does? Well not really. It does mean that the player does not have the required degree of skill or suffers from some long term injury or does not have to required psychological profile to warrant either that level of outlay or indeed any outlay at all. Put simply does he have what it takes to fit our needs answer for LFC - NO. Does not matter 1 iota what you or I think. Does it mean that LFC are too mean when it comes to transfers. Well hardly when we have been seen to be prepared to flash over £25M less than a week ago - and I mean a true offer and not a Wenger type one! So apart from Willian, show me exactly where LFC have stumbled or shown lack of commitment. You can't because you have no idea what where true offers or mere enquiries that we ultimately chose not to persue. This isn't footy manager - it's real people and real dosh.
Gerrez - think Ramirez was injured quite a lot last season too, that may be why he hasn't set the PL alight
I'd say its a combination of wages and competition. We have the new wage structure that has a lower basic salary with bonus payments to make a player a high earner IF he deserves it. If another team comes in and offers a higher basic amount where does he go? Whereas Willian chose the most likely to be in CL club. Its not complicated!
Eriksen... Can I point something out here. We have been linked to this lad for about two years. We have been strongly linked all summer too (as have Spurs). Just maybe, its a recycled rumour because they have ****all else to say? If we wanted him and he really is that price and good (this is not my opinion here) then we would sign him. I agree with most in that, I'd snap him up. I think he would become a star if he joined.
So this is the same RHC who promised us Robben? Who has said that there will be some breaking news any moment that never arrives. Sorry but has anything his mate predicted ever come true? Just asking not looking for a fight.!
I'd imagine for many people the concern lies with BR saying we need an attacking player. He then tries to bring an attacking player and fails, which is fair enough, you can only try your best. Then we have got rid of Downing and Assaidi, which puts us in a position where an attacking player is a must now yet it doesn't look like happening. If we get an injury to an attacking player we're stuck with kids, which is what we did in the first half of last season. Back to square one. At least try and get one player in after you sell two.
That's true, but there's still a few days left, leave all the negativity until after the window closes, I'd understand it then but when we still have a few more days to go, it's just annoying.
Yes I know that wasn't blaming you. But none of us know your mate or how reliable he is....and the news you just have us was absolutely ****ing depressing!
