Di Marzio saying that Sakho is pretty close now. I hope we get him - potentially world class defender and the type of defender we need.
Indeed, a younger kolo if you will. He is a lefty which shouldn't be too much of a problem but he is also when on song France's no1 CB or going to be at least.
I'm liking how our defence has Kolo, Cissokho and possibly Sakho - 3 absolute beasts of a defender who should give us more aerial and physical presence in the box!
and they should be able to play the ball around quickly as well. Another team we need to keep an eye out for is Schalke as that ship looks like it could start a new soon and they have players like Matip, Farfan, and Draxler who you could get at a good price.
If there is a player I would take from the Bundesliga, it would be Draxler. Fantastic talent. And don't forget Papa Just as you don't like Skrtel, I really don't like Johnson. Dwells on the ball, positioning is terrible (although he is often dragged out of place due to his role), and is really struggling to beat his man. Personally would prefer a defender who can defend reliably first and foremost, with the ability to attack. Arbeloa was such an underrated player for us IMO but he was brilliant. Unsung hero who did his job. There are rumours that we would like to get rid Johnson because of his age and wages, and the player himself has desires to play in Spain.
Haha true but di Marzio is very reliable and has been pretty much spot on during this transfer window.
I reckon we could try to shift him out next summer he is one of the last players on ridiculous wages. I think it is an area that could be improved maybe there hoping Kelly stays fit for the season to try and promote him to RB.
The problem with shifting him is the fact that he's on very good wages, and who would be willing to pay them. West Ham? Lol
well, I've said a few times on here that I think a few players need to go so that we can move on the the next era. The likes of Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, etc (I did have Reina on that list too) all represent the recent history which was a failure IMO. A winning mentality is hard to establish but a losing mentality is quick to settle and becomes hard to shift. I not saying these players have a losing mentality (far from it), but I'd question how much of a winning mentality they have collectively. Nor am I saying they should all go, I'd keep Lucas, maybe Agger too (I'm talking two to three years here) depending on cost etc. I left Gerrard out of that list because he's slightly different in that, he's won every trophy bar the league and he is in the twilight of his career anyway. In short, I'd sell Johnson. If we want to climb the table we need consistency. to get consistency you need consistent performers. When glen is good, he is very good but they are far too irregular nowadays. I miss the Arbeloa's and Finnan's However, he won't be going this summer, too much change at once.
Just reading a few comments on Sakho: Strengths: - Physical/Athletic - Monster in the air - Athletic - Made captain at an early age so can handle the pressure Weakness: - Occasional lapse in concentration - Can lose his cool and pick up silly cards PSG are making it clear that they really don't want to sell him which does say a lot considering their resources.
