Is our Stevie playing mind games? ----------------------- Steven Gerrard admits Liverpool could have done without extra-time in a midweek cup clash as they prepare to face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. It appeared at one stage as if the Reds would ease their way into that tie, with Brendan Rodgers able to rest key men ahead of an eagerly-anticipated encounter at Anfield. Liverpool were, however, to make hard work of League One outfit Notts County in the Capital One Cup - throwing away a two-goal lead before eventually prevailing 4-2. It took 120 minutes for them to dispose of the Magpies, and untimely injuries have been picked up by Aly Cissokho, Joe Allen and Kolo Toure. v Live Super Sunday Liverpool vs Man Utd September 1, 2013, 12:30pm Sky Sports 1 HD Remote Record Get a Sky Sports Day Pass Upgrade to Sky Sports Liverpool skipper Gerrard said in the Daily Mirror of the cup struggles: "That wasn't what we wanted. We're going away slightly disappointed. "Yeah, we're in the draw and we're in the hat and obviously pleased to be through, but it was exactly what we didn't want really. One hundred and twenty minutes and a lot of players who are going to be starting on Sunday have played too much football. "There's no doubt about it, extra-time, playing that amount of minutes, is a bit of a blow to us. "I think the game plan was to get the game won, done and dusted, and then try and rest a few for Sunday." On the knocks picked up by the likes of Toure, who has been a rock at the heart of Rodgers' back four as Liverpool have opened the new season with back-to-back victories in the league, Gerrard added: "Maybe he wouldn't have suffered that injury if it'd finished after 90 minutes, so we have ourselves to blame for his injury. "We all have to take responsibility for that, but fingers crossed it's not too bad. We've got an international break coming up as well so hopefully he won't miss too many games." http://www1.skysports.com/football/...f-extra-time-ahead-of-manchester-united-clash --------------- Given Mingolet and BR have both stated that this extra time wont have a bearing on Sun is Stevie playing mind games? (Notice the 2 that said it though are the ones who didnt have to do the running for 120 mins!)
Words mean nothing, actions count. He can say he likes to dress up as Mark Poppings in his spare time for all I care so long as he performs!
Thought provoking as ever RHC Maiden and Gerrez, was confident about the weekend but not so much now. Shows how thin our squad is. How motivated will Skrtel be knowing we dont want him? Kelly not ready, Wisdom not ready to step in for this game at centre half (too important a position, maybe rb but not centre) Agger carrying a knock and not playing amazing Oh well, hopefully we'll get 4 if they get 3
I think he will be extremely motivated to either prove his worth or put his self in the shop window. I can't see us selling him now so this is his chance to earn his place back. If Johnson was in form then I'd play Wisdom at CB. However, I think it would be throwing him in the deep sticking him between a off form Johnson and Agger!
Well I hope your right, Skrtel's match sharpness though as well, he'll be up against bloody RVP and Rooney! Shame Kelly's not up to speed, Johnson has been poor unfortunately I'd be cautious like I say of putting Wisdom in there and like you say between them pair at the min! Did Toure have a go at Johnson v Notts County when they scored?
Interesting point about Wisdom, personally I'd currently drop Johnson for Wisdom right now. Wisdom has never put a foot wrong at Right back, Johnson is a liability right now and he desperately needs to get his act together.
No, he's just calling it as he saw it...unless Toure's been to see a faith healer, it's worked, and we don't want Utd to know.
He could've give Glenn Hoddle a call Wasnt there something in the past about Rafa and horse something or other to heal injuries?
But my point was anyway why is he saying that when others are saying Sun wont be affected #dressingroomsplit
