What a shocker. Our lowest crowd for a Championship fixture. We seem to have lost 2,000-3,000 fans over the summer.
Okay, the conditions were a lottery. BUT, one team adapted and put the ball up in the air, and the other tried to pass alomg the ground when it was physically imposible. It's not rocket science. I suppose I'm prepared to give a bit of leeway (now I've calmed down) but really, while I accept this league is very tight, there are some seemingly untouchable members of our squad who simply are'nt performing. Once again, Cousins is sollecting the few plaudits around, and you do begin to wonder whether we'd be better with someone younger and hungrier from the academy.
Cheers Ponders. Take 600 Donny out of that and discount no-show season ticket holders and that is a very worrying figure.
I see rumours have started circulating about the players not being paid, or paid late. Might explain the impression of an unhappy camp, if true.
we were cr@p yesterday. i've never seen such a poor performance. if it werent for the youth players coming through i'd say everything to do with the club at the moment was going south
I think matters will all come to a head around the Millwall game. If we are still in the bottom 3 and struggling, and if crowds don't pick up, the owners are very likely to send the club legend down the road. With only six months left on his contract, compensation would not be an issue. I would then expect to see an experienced father figure (and cheap option) appointed caretaker manager to "steady the ship" and buy the Board time to sell. The name Paul Hart springs to mind. My own opinion is that the club legend has wrung every last drop out of this current group of players, and did so in the last nine games of last season. some of them want away, some of them have peaked, some of them are out of form and going backwards.
It's a brave man who'd predict the course of action our owners will take. Didn't Slater say a year or so ago that he would "Tie Chris Powell to a chair"? Normally you'd think that refusing to renew a manager's contract meant that they didn't rate him enough, but the contract madness seems to apply right through the club. But then again Church has been given a 2-year contract................It's a bit like trying to figure out a whodunnit. Or maybe it's like "Lost" where there was no explanation.
Afternoon all, been out the country for the bank holiday weekend, sounds like I missed a cracker seen highlights and looks like they had the advantage when it came to which end they were attacking but obv I wasnt there so i cant say if we were that bad or not. Reading looks like we had a shocking half, but with them down to 10 and then defending the swimming pool might have all changed oh well. About whats happening to the club, doesn't seem like anyone really knows do we?
Could someone with an infinitely better knowledge of these things than me explain why the result and goals for our match against Donny are wiped off, but not Paul Keegan's red card? Cheers.
Thanks dick - I was hoping for something a bit fuller than that but... On a serious note, as I haven't got an ice cream's chance in Hell of making a midweek rearranged game with Donny, is there a way I can get my money back or does the old rule about 'reaching half-time and you're stuffed' still apply?
Tewkes Ring the club on 0871 226 1905 and ask for Josh Waddell. He is a helpful bloke and will sort you out. Nick
I was down the Valley on Monday and the man in front of me was getting a refund so it shouldn't be a problem.
I believe the red cards stand because if it was reckless or dangerous and caused serious injury to a player the ban should be kept as the other team have been disrupted by the tackle. Red cards a normally always justified and regardless of the situation should always stand as it is basically the highest form of punishment in the game.
