I don't need a link to know Jose doesn't rate the strikers he has at the club. His public courting of Rooney and selection of a winger to play up front last night hardly needs decoding! If he doesn't sign Rooney he'll have ****ed things right up. If he signs Eto'o he'll have ****ed things up even more as his current strikers will know just how low he rates them as the guy pretty much retired two years ago. Very poor man management.

Matt must be more of a Facebook than Twitter man as he hasn't reported on Rooney's declaration of love for the United fans. It could all be bollox, I read it on some website that isn't Facebook. #FACEBOOKISSHITE

Looks like Chelsea have given up on Rooney and are going to sign Eto'o which confirms that Mourinho is full of ****.

So if Utd refuse to sell him we should just give up and sign no one?
Rooney was the main target, but if Utd dont sell, what the **** else can he do?

As I said, full of ****.

His current strikers must be feeling more demotivated by the day. He'd already made it clear he had more faith in a winger to play up front in the big games than his strikers. Now he's coaxed a 32 year old out of semi-retirement to spearhead his attack. Maybe he did lose it when he was at Real.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that Rooney was way down the pecking order and that originally you wanted one from either Falcao, Cavani, and Lewandowski but as these guys were unobtainable, Rooney was your last hope?

You need to read between the lines. When he said "No - and we won't.", he actually meant "No - and we won't, unless the mad Russian forces me to buy a player I don't want or need just to piss off Spurs, and my constant public attempts to unsettle Rooney fail so I'm forced to sign a 32 year old who only cares about how much cash I'll throw into his retirement fund".

right? And now he is unobtainable, they went looking for other targets, and found one in Eto'o, allegedly.
Should we just stop if we cant get Rooney, pack it in?

Eto is going to chelsea.. so Rooney my kiss Goodbye his chelsea move.. tbh chelsea were not really serious about Rooney, where has gone the 2nd bid that Jose talked about before the match?

I'm not saying you shouldn't try and sign anyone, I was just trying to confirm have Chelsea been rejected by 4 forwards then? Appears they have after Rooney apparently is prepared to stay now at OT.

Perhaps Jose was so confident that he would get Rooney that he felt making a "Rooney or no one" statement wouldn't ultimately make him look like a tit when he signed a hasbeen.

    Shocking management.

Yes, 4 of our targets opted to go elsewhere. Not sure how many of those we made actual bids for though and how many were just tabloid target rumours.
Because then I could just as easily say Utd have been rejected by multiple midfielders, Fabregas, Ronaldo, Bale etc

<laugh> Calm down I'm not having a go. Yes Utd it appears have definitely been rejected by Fabregas and Ronaldo (for the time being). Not sure about Bale though as purely IMO paper talk.

Looks like Jose was right and players who aren't first choice at their clubs are at risk of missing out on the World Cup. Torres and Mata haven't been selected for the next Spain sqaud.
