Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor = Queen Elizabeth II

William Arthur Philip Louis = Prince William/William Wales

Charles Philip Arthur George = Prince Charles

....no AFC there either, is there?!

But the foreign markets can probably spell, so they'll follow Assem's advice because they can't read yours.

My god there are some childish prats on this board. As has been said many times the only way we will get investment from abroad and be well known abroad is to be successful in the Premier League. IF a name change worked then every other Premier League team would have done it before us. No need to change the name, its just the owner wanting to stamp his authority on the club he regards as his own property and nothing to do with any of us.

Hey I like this poll. Can't wait to see the view of the 1800+ registered fans too!

    :emoticon-0109-kiss:

I think the bottom line is, you can't please all of the people some of the time, or some of the people all the time, or something like that, which presumably is Dr Allam's view, so you go with your instincts.

I am slightly surprised about some of the comments in this thread though.

Thanks for actually liking this poll, even though as you probably know, I don't agree with your choice.

At least you aren't being a petty twat like tigertubby.

Oh good. Now why have you put in AFC as that's not even an option now OMFG!!!

    :D

Honestly, its at least as clear as any we're likely to given by the club, albeit we'd get less options of course, and some folks still seem angry over stuff. Gotta laugh. These polls on this forum, and others are just toe dipping for a local to that sites feeling, and not really representative of the majority. Even the majority on these sites don't bother posting let alone voting or debating. That much was obvious over the WYP and bubbling issue. Still, if we were all the same, it'd be a tad boring.

If the AFC is unimportant as you claim, and the protest was about stopping the change to "Hull Tigers", then why are these silly ****s not chanting "We're Hull City"?

I don't say anywhere that the AFC is unimportant. If I thought it was, I wouldn't have put it in my ****ing username.

    Just vote and/or **** off.

    I'm not a silly ****.

I didn't like the 'we pay the bills' chant, it was daft.

The main chant that was sung wasn't publicised as it had a nasty word in it, it was the Macca chant...

    Don't change our name,
    Our 100 year old name,
You just don't seem to understand,
That if you change our name,
    Our 100 year old name,
You'll have a ****ing riot on your hands etc etc

Well, I've voted and my vote was for Hull City AFC, however - if this poll was conducted in Australia it would have been based on the "preferential" voting system as opposed to the "first past the post" system that applies in the UK. In which case I would have voted - 1. Hull City AFC, 2. Hull City Tigers.
I think my reasons for this have been spelt out in previous posts but basically, (a)I don't think a change is necessary, (b)nor has it been handled democratically and (c)in spite of what appears (admittedly from afar) as a fairly high degree of apathy around the issue apart from various forums, the change seems to have met with a vastly more negative response than a positive one.
The reason I think a preference option would be a good idea is that I have also formed the opinion that the key issue in this matter is protecting the KEY word in our name, i.e, "City". Therefore, for a lot of people, although Hull City AFC is the first choice, Hull City Tigers may ultimately be an acceptable outcome - combining both of the most commonly used references, "City" and "Tigers", PROVIDED it never leads to Hull Tigers.

Yes, but the argument is Hull City Tigers is a transitional name from our traditional name to what he actually wants, ie Hull Tigers. And he wants to do away with the name "city" because he believes it's too common for him and his brand. But, for some reason all those in favour of the name change have conveniently forgotten that he said this on telly, or believe it's a HDM conspiracy.

If he gets what he wants here, he'll just do it again and we'll become Hull Tigers.

I don't see any problem in him slapping "Tigers", as a nickname, on merchandise and flogging it as long as we get to keep our traditional name.
