Vertonghen was well liked at Ajax. A fan favourite and good captain. Will definitely have a big influence on whether Eriksen signs.
True mate, after all this Bale is the one who seems to be the most immature, as not talking to anyone at the club, not turning up for training and basically sulking is pathetic. Dont get me wrong, wont stop me forgetting the great times we had with Bale, just you wish he would act abit more professional as the deals going to happen.
I will piss myself if he is given the number 11 shirt and adopts the heart celebration permanently. or better still, a "diamond" just to take the piss
It's such a shame to see him turn out like he has. He was loved by our fans, everyone has known over the past 2 weeks that his transfer was inevitable, so I don't understand why he's chosen to act as he has, surely he must appreciate we needed to replace him before allowing him to go. I think I speak on behalf of 90% of Spurs fans in that had he gone about his business professionally, we'd have given him our blessing and wished him all the best. Now, I just hope he flops.
His agent's a tosser and as the old saying goes, if you lay down with dogs... Clearly paying far too much attention to a bloke who's already been banned once and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football club.
Ekotto is the only one we can trust to be honest, if madrid came in for him, he would be like " Real Madrid LOL sorry spurs fans but i'm off!" ...LOL And he was right when he said players act they like love the club and then change their ways once a better offer comes along. One of the best players we have ever seen, Klinsmann, you remember when he moved to Bayern after a season, he held a press conference during the season to tell the spurs fans he had to go, thats what you call class and at least being honest, none of this shady behaviour of today.
Looks like Lamela is here (almost) and Eriksen soon to follow. As soon as these signings are officially announced, I think we can all agree that its been a pretty incredible summer of spending and time to get behind the team and the new acquisitions. As for Bale, 48 hours ago I would have wished him well. Frankly, he can **** off for all I care! We need him gone so we can move on.
Totally agree, Bale is doing as advised by his agent. That's why he was pictured visiting his agent yesterday. It's the modern way, if Bale puts in a transfer request he loses his percentage of the fee, and the agent loses his percentage of that percentage. The agent doesn't give two ****s about Bale, he cares about the bottom line and getting a deal over the line.
Nah, Bale has patented goal celebrations using both hands to depict a playing card or suite of playing cards.
He has to. He has it trademarked and has to protect his brand or lose it. You wont see any other players making that sign on TV adverts, billboards, etc.
We are still in for Chiriches and Eriksen. Maybe we are looking at the Bale cash as extra and will be spending what we would have done on top. This, with the removal of a lot of dead wood, should hammer home the advantage afforded us by the Bale money. This is a watershed moment for our club, I can't see us spending like this again anytime soon.
I don't see how it's legal to effectively break your contract to push a move through and yet still not be seen as requesting a transfer. Ludicrous loophole.
The wage bill thing is interesting but I don't think we'll have made a massive increase, to be honest. Lots of our biggest earners will have moved on, including Bale, Parker, Dempsey, Bentley and Gallas, possible Assou-Ekotto and Adebayor and a few others, like Huddlestone and Livermore, though the latter's on loan. Caulker and Chiriches should be very similarly paid and I'd expect most of our new signings to be within our structure, if not all.
