We better get our ****ing finger out and sign some players after Spurs have signed a top player in Lamela. They are also lining up Eriksen who is rated highly too.

Not overly worried about them. We hear the same thing every season. More concerned with our own signings, if we sign we'll do well. <ok>

Depends on what we sign really. If it's Cabaye and Flamini then.....

You can believe that, but we're going to end the transfer window with Flamini on a free.

Yes but it's not about getting players in, it's players that will raise the level of our first team. Will this happen, we will see come 2nd Sept.

I'll wait and see what transpires and I'll judge him after the window is closed. No point getting wound up about it now..

The same as every season, does this strike you as the normal Spurs business. Bale out (ahem) Lamela, Chiriches, Soldado, Chadli, Paulinho, Capoue in. Maybe Eriksen in. I'm pretty sure this is an unusual transfer window for us!

There is still time for signings to be made. Also i dont get the hatred for the idea of signing Flamini and Cabaye. Both of them would add to our squad strength and be good signings. A step in the right direction.

We may need other signings in addition to these two but i really can't understand why people are putting down the idea of signing them.

Has the Chrinches one been confirmed? I think the Eriksen one will put the cherry on top. Only thing is how quickly will these players gel and adapt to the Premiership.

Who is putting down the idea? You know very well these signings won't improve or displace anyone of our first teamers. The are good squad additions, granted, but thats it. The expectation is to get player of high quality, that will lift our overall play so we can compete for the title. We still have time but i'm finding it hard to imagine any big names coming our way.

Whether they are the big names we are after or not they would be solid additions to the squad and give us some depth that we need. Id be happy with both of these signings.

Our first 11 is good enough to beat most teams already. We need good experienced players like Flamini and Cabaye who can step in and cover the holes in our squad when we have injuries etc...

To push onto the next level we also need the big game changer signing(s), but without the "bulk out the squad" signings we wont win anything either. We need BOTH types. And Cabaye and Flamini are as good as we could hope for for squad signings.

    David Ornstein, BBC SportFOOTBALL

"Tottenham are working on a deal to sign 21-year-old Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen. There is no agreement in place yet and the highly-rated Dane would still need to undergo a medical and agree terms."

    Some stats:

Played 55, scored 14 and assisted 24. Impressive for such a young player.

Mark Overmars has confirmed that Spurs have been given permission to discuss terms with Eriksen. I'm sure he enjoyed doing that. <whistle>

    Yes to confirm:

Ajax confirm to BBC Radio 5 live that 21-year-old Denmark international midfielder Christian Eriksen has been given permission to speak to Tottenham.

Looks like PNP was right and Lennon could go then. Lennon would be a cracking buy for anyone outside the top 6.

Funny but true. So in your personal opinion, you think Spurs is a genuine threat now? The game between Chelsea and Spurs has got even hotter now, or should I say, Mourinho v AVB
