Agreed. We already have pace up front - it's called Aluko and Brady. Coincidentally, I would play them as a front two at Eastlands.
Ignoring where the goals came from, Campbell hustled and bullied the Man City defence. He chased and challenged everything, which lead to Man City making mistakes and conceding corners free kicks etc.
Isn't that a bit hard to do in football? In the context of his physical play, then yeah, he was constantly at them. I've noticed that we seem to sit off teams, let them pass it around and then hope to intercept their play, either via a bad pass or a well timed tackle. Why won't we harry, chase down loose balls or put pressure on goalkeepers? Surely we aren't going to ease off on Manchester City?
My point is, you cannot discount the play before the corners because they didn't directly contribute to the goals. The hustling from Campbell is just as important as putting the right ball in/winning the header! The thing that surprised me the most was how many headers Campbell won against Lescott, hopefully Javi Garcia is playing CB for them again.
It was the play before the corners which led to the bloody corners! Cardiff's style of play forced Man City into making errors and thus giving them the set piece opportunities. Brady and Aluko up front would indeed be a good shout, but wouldnt do much for DG's confidence. Shall we just send him back now?
David Burns ‏@bbcburnsy Research started for Man City v #hcafc. Outfield players for last game for Man City cost £291m and outfield subs £113m.
My team would be a 4231: McGregor Rosey Chester Davies Figueroa Thudd Livermore Elmo Koren Brady Aluko Though I would consider the possibility of swapping those front 4, particularly Aluko and Brady.
Just seen the SSN report of Chelsea signing Willian, they have 11 midfielders! All of them could walk into another prem team.
I heard a five live summary that indicated that Man City has changed the way it defends, from a zone system to a man marking system. Cardiff employed a free roaming strategy with Campbell and the Man City defence could not cope with him. Sounds plausible. What system do we use? I thought we where on the "anal system" last night but could have been confused.
I'd DEFINITELY go 4231 as well except I think it is vital to play Graham up front. Aluko will never hold the ball up. McGregor Elmo Chezzy Curtis Figgy Thudd Livvo Sone RoKo BradyBoy Graham
