TV celebrity Jim Davidson has said European immigrants are "wet behind the ears" and young British people are "tougher" workers.

The presenter, whose shows include Big break and the Generation game, said they would not have suceeded if there were no Brits to staff them.

"There wouldn't be any immigrants to replace them," he said in an interview with Snooker Scene magazine.

Immigrants were not good at "long hours", he said.

Davidson said that when he was in his 20s, it was normal for him to work 80 to 100 hours a week.

He added: "But the EU regulation now is 48 hours, which is half a week's work for me. And they still whinge about it!

"Immigrant kids particularly, I have never seen anything so wet behind the ears!

"I have mummies phoning up for 23-year-olds saying to me, 'My son is too tired.' On a 48-hour week! Are you having a laugh?"

Personally I think we have it the wrong way round in Britain.

Like Europe we should work to live not live to work.

Family and friends are equally if not more important.

Sincere apologies, Drew, but I disagree.

We all live to work, the fruit of such labours should afford you the opportunity to improve one's lifestyle and friends and family likewise.

I like working and I thank God that He's given me a job that allows me flexibility and creativity to enjoy life outside work too.

    God is Great.

    No, it's not racist.

But Davidson/Oliver is correct, the Brits are workshy ****s. The sense of entitlement some of the Brits have is beyond deluded.

The Poles work like ****, the Brits don't.

In the work shy Central Belt of Scotland, yes.

    Nowhere else though in Britain.

    No so, Drew.

Throughout the British cities, due to declining industry, there are a feral underclass which leeches off the state like a white ho on an Abdul.

    Sickening, truth be told.

This once Great Nation is heading to hell on a handstand.

It's not just British people, it's settled people. People who get off their arses to go make a life for themselves have more motivation than people who are looking for a local job to fit around their lifestyle.

In fairness he probably knows what he's talking about more than most on this one. They've driven the standards up though as, in general terms, the British kids that do get jobs know they have to be bloody good at them in order to hold on to them.

I think he has a point though. if you're living at home the chances are you may not have the same motivation as those who have to pay rent etc just to stay in the country. Some, not all I hasten to add, may also have a sense of entitlement which might breed resentment rather than a will to get out and better oneself. I actually feel a bit sorry for kids today though as it certainly wasn't like that when i was a lad looking for work and it is way more competitve now especially as a good amount of the people coming over looking for work are better educated.
