Gambol, my suggestion would be for you to strategically make some ventilation holes in said toastie, a fork would be ideal, as the holes would equidistant. This would have the desired effect of rapidly cooling down the toastie and ensuring no permanent damage is done to one's upper mouth. Toasties always taste better in the pub rather than home produced. I would suggest the same procedure for Findus crispy pancakes as they also have a propensity for somewhat overheating.
