West Ham are in danger of missing out on Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella, with Premier League rivals Sunderland reportedly ready to bid for the Italy star.
The Hammers last week reportedly agreed a deal to take the 30 year old to Upton Park on a season-long loan deal for a £1m loan fee, with the option to buy Quagliarella for £6m next summer, but Juventus are now understood to have turned full transfer circle and are holding out for a permanent deal for their man, something which will cause problems for the Irons, who have used up their summer transfer budget and have almost reached their wage limit.
Speaking to the club website this morning, West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan said: “The new (financial) rules state that if a club exceeds the new wage limit they could be hit with a points deduction. As we are close to that limit, players can only be brought in if there is money left in the wage budget, meaning any new signings are dependent on other players leaving the club. Selling or giving away fringe players is easier said than done and hasn’t been possible so far this summer.”
Tuttosport today claim that Sunderland are ready to move in and gazumph the Irons’ move for Quagliarella, with the Black Cats in a healthier financial position than West Ham and with remaining transfer and wage budget to be able to finance the deal. The striker is said to prefer a switch to the Boleyn Ground with a move to London an attraction, but may find that such a deal is no longer on the cards.

Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella’s future appears to lie away from the Juventus stadium as he nears a move to the English Premier League.

The 30-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Antonio Conte with the arrivals of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez pushing the Neapolitan further down the pecking order, and both Sunderland and West Ham United are reportedly keen on luring him to England.

Whilst the Italian international could join former Juve teammate Emanuele Giaccherini at the Stadium of Light, Tuttosport reports that the player’s fascination with a move to London could give capital club West Ham the upper hand.

The former Napoli and Udinese hit-man could be set to tread the same path as current Bologna fantasista Alessandro Diamanti by making the move to the West-end of London.

‘Quagliagol’ has been with the Bianconeri since transferring from hometown club Napoli in 2010, and has 26 goals in 79 appearances for the Italian champions.

West Ham are signing Honduras international striker Roger Rojas on loan.

The forward, 23, was at the Hammers' HQ on Tuesday for a medical ahead of his switch from Honduras outfit Club Deportivo Olimpia.

Rojas scored 19 league goals last season, and already has three this term.

His arrival is likely to see West Ham boss Sam Allardyce sell Ricardo Vaz Te.

Premier League new boys Cardiff are in the frame for the former Bolton forward.

Caveat - this is the Daily Mirror though
