La Liga is better than the prem IMO. Most people that slate the lower teams of la liga have never watched them. There is a lot more talent in La Liga then what Pro-Premiership people think. As for the lower teams being awful loom at the players that have been relegated: Piatti, Uche (scored 2 against argentina), Guardado, Trezuguet, Valdez all of them performed well at the world cup/ international level. Players like Parker are so out of their depth playing internationally as are all of the 'world class prem stars'. Rooney-0 goals and he is the best England has to offer? Wilshire looked average against a poor swisss side. Where-as la liga stars shined. Forlan golden boot, Casillas golden Glove Spain won the euros and world cup with mostly la liga players. Atletico finished 7th last season with a team which beat Liverpool and I think is level with likes of Arsenal. Barca and Madrid are too good for everyone else which does give the prem the competitive edge but in terms of quality La Liga would win throughout
Who the hell are Piatti and Valdez? Trezeguet is finished, he's like 50 years old ffs and Guardado is decent but hardly great. Switzerland beat Spain in the World Cup Almost the entire Spain team are from Barcelona along with one or two from Real Madrid which just sums up the uncompetitiveness of La Liga. Real Madrid walk over everyone in La Liga, bar Barcelona, every week yet in Europe they have done very little for years. If Atletico Madrid are as good as Arsenal then why have Arsenal out performed them in Europe for years? If the Spanish teams are superior then why have the Premiership teams outperformed all of them, bar Barcelona, in the Champions League over the last few seasons?
Second string La Liga: Casillas, Marcelo, Pepe, Ramos, Arbeloa, Alonso, Ozil, Kaka, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Benzema. Second string PL: Bramble, Bardsley, Delap, red card, red card, red card, red card, sleeps with sister, buys prostitute, overweight, hair transplant.
Like I said above, it's all well and good talking about the best teams and players in La Liga, but the average team in the Premiership is better in my opinion. The bottom teams in La Liga are abysmal.
Valencia are Vilarreal have been **** the past few seasons yet they finish 3rd and 4th in La Liga around 25 points or so behind a Real Madrid team who have reached one Champions League Semi Final in 7 years and people say the quality in La Liga is great
Why didn't Man Utd destroy Valencia like Barca and Real do? Barca don't destroy teams in La Liga as badly as they did Man Utd. That was just embarrassing.
Top sides in La Liga are 25 times richer than the worst ones. Top sides in the Premiership are six times richer than the worst ones. There's a massive gulf of class in La Liga. There's still a significant one in the Premiership, but Spanish football's merely like the SPL with more boring tippy-tappy passing.
Barcelona's C team, i.e. their youth team, won 3 1 away at the 9th placed team in La Liga. Great competitiveness. Anyway I'm not talking about the odd result, I'm talking about over a season.
Haha the boring tippy tappy stuff that won Spain the world cup, European championships, Won Barca the CL (humiliating you and your awful football). You are so Andy Gray'd out your nut that you think Rory Delap throw ins is how to go about playing football.
You are making the usual mistake pro La Liga people make and confusing the PL with England. If you exclude Barca from the equation, then there were only five La Liga players in the WC final: Casillas, Ramos, Alonso (developed in the PL), Capdevila and Navas, and seven current EPL players: Heitinga, Kuyt, De Jong, Van Persie, Van der Vaart, Fabregas and Torres. That would be Atletico Madrid that failed to get through the group stages of this season's EL, losing to the mighty Aris of Greece, right? Good selective result picking there And what about Valencia, third in La Liga but knocked out of the CL by Schalke? The same Schalke that got done over 6-1 by United and barely even put up a fight. On that basis, Valencia are worse than any of the top 6 in England, so what does that say about the rest of La Liga apart from Barca and Real?
I never mentioned Barcelona or the Spanish national team, did I? Read my post again before making such stupid comments.
Funny how the only Spanish teams who achieve anything these days are Barcelona and the Spain National team who are mainly Barcelona players.
I don't see where you get any evidence for the Spanish teams being worse than the English teams. Whenever they play eachother in the Europa league or Uefa cup, the Spanish team always wins. The rubbish physical style of the English teams is fine when playing eachother, but if they actually had to play a team that plays football, they would get destroyed. Even England got outplayed by Switzerland yesterday. Yes the PL is entertaining. But the standard is simply awful.
Real Madrid 0-5 Barcelona Barcelona 3-1 Villarreal Barcelona 5-0 Sevilla Athletic Bilbao 1-3 Barcelona Barcelona 3-0 Atlético Madrid Espanyol 1-5 Barcelona Osasuna 0-3 Barcelona So, that would be all bar one of the top 8 clubs in La Liga destroyed by Barca just as badly as they did Utd. And those were in league games where Barca wouldn't even have bothered to raise their game like they did in the CL final.
You're talking about the top teams again. The only fair way to judge it is the average team surely? And average teams don't play each other in Europe, due to well, being average.
La Liga 2009/10 Barcelona 99 points Real Madrid 96 points Valencia 71 points La Liga 2010/11 Barcelona 96 points Real Madrid 92 points Valencia 71 points The gap between the top 2 and the rest is ridiculous. People say that's because Barcelona and Real Madrid are outstanding teams. 1 Champions League Semi Final in 7 years is absolutely appalling for a supposedly outstanding Real Madrid team.
