I have always said that the fact he got into the Dutch squad, let alone played is a testament to the state of Dutch football at the moment. JDG can't tackle, loses the ball often, doesn't bother trying to win said ball back, doesn't contribute anything defensively, walks around a lot (leaving the likes of Britton fcuked in midfield), a very average taker of set pieces. These are the reasons why I was happy it was a lone deal for him, as it was being touted that we would have had to pay £7million for him. I'd say he is worth no more that 2-4million tops. Also, if there a plenty of us identifying that JDG is useless and we are twp, what does that make you The shirt salesman is far better/ has the potential, if given the same opportunities that Laudrup gives JDG
Not a team player, loses his man too easily , fails to track back , poor dead ball "specialist" ,goes missing in games . other than that I think he's great
Smarter than most Swans fans I suppose. Not much to brag about to be honest though if most message boards are anything to go by. Perhaps you should ask Laudrup why he doesn't give him any. Let me know if you understand his answer.
Am actually quite a fan of JDG - yep he can sometimes disappear during games, but when he is on form he is very effective. I have seen the 'incident' during the Dutch training session and it looked very nasty - I think that he came back from that too soon; I suffered concussion a few times when I played rugby and was not allowed to play for at least two weeks after. Think JDG was still suffering the after effects. JDG did well for us last year and is a very natural, and talented, footballer - if I was to choose between him or Ki, it would be DeGuz every time.
jdg is a good player and Ki is an excellent player, it the way we are playing is not right for them. these long passes and playing deep is not their style. when we are playing short sharp passes going forward then there is not many as good as them...anyway with our injuries we need as many players as we can...
So he was so creative that Molina at Villarreal decided to bench him, and it was for that reason, that he wanted out, and the only reason he's getting game time with us, is his connection with Laudrup, you clearly need to go to specsavers TLR!.............. If he's so good, how come Jenkins has not bought him? Don't rate him one bit, lazy player to put it mildly, and one I'd get rid of, but then he's only on loan, thank goodness!......
Agreed aswan 'He shoots from the hip and don't take no lip - Lone Rangel' Long may he ride - don't always agree but makes this board interesting!
So he was so creative that Molina at Villarreal decided to bench him, and it was for that reason, that he wanted out, and the only reason he's getting game time with us, is his connection with Laudrup, you clearly need to go to specsavers TLR!. dragon we benched Bony against spurs so what is the difference..
de Guzman was benched for a lot of matches at Villareal. He was obviously not rated and couldn't get a game which is why he wanted out. Has to be a reason for that. Also, La Liga is not as fast or physical as the PL. which makes it worse. I think he's got ability but for me his attitude stinks. Plain lazy (or gutless).
Who was it the other day that said he saw JDG somewhere in town and was surprised how small he actually is.
JDG bashing is a bit harsh, he needs game time too, having missed a chunk of pre-season and getting injured the other week the guy has hardly played for us!! He scored 8 goals last season by playing exactly the same way, his technique is very good and while he doesn't run around like a headless chicken he offers things that the other midfielders haven't since being in the Prem league and that's goals! I didn't think he had a bad game against spurs,i thought shelve was the weak link personally, and as at least as patchy as JDG in his play, but I guess somebody has to be the pressure release valave, this week its JDG . He is a jack Bastard until told otherwise so lets cut him some slack and be supportive is it ? we are only 2 premier league games into the season and players are at different levels of form, hence the type of performance we are seeing ! Ben davies has been poor too,Ash has been iffy so has fans favourite Chico, who was getting caught out of position again on sunday. Its too early in the season to jump on one player lets give the boys a break im sure they don't want to put in average performances so they probably feel a bit like we do at the moment
We haven't bought him because we didn't have to. He's obviously only here because Laudrup is and another years loan until ML leaves suits all parties. Maybe if the Villarreal coach had played him more often they wouldn't have been relegated? It's telling that Shelvey has come into the side with his run around like a headless chicken routine and become an instant fan favourite despite seemingly giving the ball away more in four or five appearances than De Guzman did in the entirety of last season. Sums up the British fans attitude to the game when one is a hero and the other a pariah. The same kind of dopes who held up Gerrard as an example of a World Class player when in truth he's extremely limited on a technical basis. I suppose a willingness to run around like Forrest Gump, long range shots and the occasionally accurate cross field ball impress some more than others. Although it is nice to see those who understand that there's more to a good footballer than "he gets stuck in like" contribute too. Thought I was a lone voice of sanity for a moment.
Guzman is allways one of the players who is running longest in every match. He never gives up. As far as I recall everyone of them who think he suck now, also praised him this spring/summer, and wanted Swansea to change the loan to an permanent contract. Some peoples memory is very very short. No need to criticize every player in the squad for the defeats against last years Champions and away game against last years nr. 5. I remember the three defeats in a row last september - everybody was panicking too. There is no manager in the world I would rather have in these situation, then Laudrup!. Lets have a positive attitude please.
But the same criticisms were aimed at him last year ,I agree give him time but how much ?, too many games last year he left Leon trying o defend against two when he couldn't make the effort to do his job
Me, YJ. In Tesco's. But I can live with that. Like most Swans fans I can tolerate a lack of ability to an extent provided the player tries his heart out for every second he's on that pitch. They earn enough for god's sake. We forgave Scotland's laziness - well some of us did - because he scored a sackful of goals for us and that was his job. But a midfielder needs to be busy - it goes with the territory - and you can't say that about JDG who frustrates the hell out of me. He's got ability, which makes him more of an enigma for me, but seems far too casual and lacks application, as others have said. Yes. he's chipped in with some useful goals and I hope he does so again. Goodness knows we'll need them this season. I always thought it was crazy to send out Ki on loan and if it happens it's a huge admission of defeat for our Club. We bust our transfer record then offload a year later. That screams 'We got it wrong', and from a Board that doesn't make many mistakes that's a huge deal as far as I'm concerned. I actually feel sorry for Ki. He's rarely if ever played in his preferred position as an AM. He's been put in as a DM and even deputised at CB. No wonder he's not scored for us. Compare that with his time at Celtic and it could be argued that we really haven't made the best use of him to date. Laudrup seems to have blinkers on when it comes to JDG and (I'm going to say it) he's wrong. He hasn't done nearly enough to warrant his selection ahead of Ki imo and let's be honest if he'd gone back to his parent club not many of us would have been too upset. It's going to be a long season and I for one would much prefer Ki to stay. As for JDG he remains a Swans player for now and we should get behind him. He too could well play an important part in our busy season.
What he loses in tackling and tracking you could argue he makes up for in assists and goals. Bottom line is that if he could do all those Jobs very well he wouldnt be playing for swansea! Some people tend to forget this sometimes.
