No one is saying they wouldn't want a successful season followed by the joy of winning promotion but what is so great when you get to the end of the tunnel?

Without wishing to patronise, though it will come across that way, I think it's a different question to those who go week in week out.

    No doubt about it.

Despite the stick youve had DL its a good question

For me i prefer the championship

The football is more accessible and affordable
Fewer Tuesday Night Soccer bollocks that you get on sky
    More matches to watch
Barnsley away on a wet tuesday is what its all about for me
    A far more open league
Many more games up my end

I detest the Skyification of english football, in the championship its more pure if that makes any sense

Having said that i want my club to compete at the highest level but theres little joy in getting spanked week in week out in the closed shop that is the Premiership

DL often asks us questions or makes statements that are patronising, but he says it in a "friendly" way. I've pointed it out a few times previously and this is yet another example imo.
However, I can see your point of view. It's the opposite for me. Harder to get to midweek games.......more up north etc.
I want Rangers to be in the highest available league. Hopefully we won't cock it up again if it happens!!

I agree with Col. I think DL is being condescending in the extreme asking this question now after we have played a few games in the Championship. Timing is everything.

My question to DL is, why didn't you ask us the same question a month into our first season in the Premier League just after we had beaten you 1-0, your team completely lost their heads and your captain invincible was shown to the world for what he is ie. a scumbag racist.

That's the key point for me. I go to the football to be entertained and there was precious little of that in the last season - a little more the season before. I want QPR to play at as high a level as TF & co can take us but I do want to be entertained along the way too.

I wonder how many of the self-professed "Championsh*t lovers" would be saying this prior to our first game next season if we was back in the Prem? It seems to me, such a ludicrous suggestion is only ever contemplated once we've been dumped back into this division on our arses.

It all smacks of trying to soften the blow of failure as it were. Trying to convince oneself of nonsense just to lessen the pain. (Religious people spring to mind but lets not go down that road!)

Its human nature I suppose but its also a load of COCK.

I was saying it last year too. It's not a load of cock at all. It's logical to enjoy more competitive, cheaper football.

I quite enjoy it too, Im looking forward to going to Yeovil for example. Mind you theres plenty of **** flat pack stadiums in the FLC too.

Ask anyone if they enjoyed our title season or the 2 seasons in the PL and I know what the answer will be.

Happened to see this thread, no idea if the OP is winding you lot up, but its a good question anyway.

Have thought about this before, net is:

    - Championship is the highest level where proper competitive English/British football goes on, for the reasons other posters have given. I enjoy being in it, and wish the Prem did not exist and this was the highest league there was in England (not to be misinterpreted, that would mean the Championship was better quality than today, with no Prem siphoning off the best young players)

    - but.................... the Prem does exist, like it or not its where the best football is played in this country, so reluctantly I still come down on the side of wanting my team to be part of it

I think also Leeds, given its potential fan base, has a bit more chance of consolidating a position in the Prem, if promoted, which might help my decision to want promotion, a bit. (yes I know it won't be easy for us, either - don't bother telling me)

I think this is one of those questions where your distance from Loftus road affects your view. If you live in another country, want streams of every match and lots of gossip in the news, the championship is very 2nd rate. If you want to go to lots of matches - particularly if the quality of the football isn't the only consideration - then the championship is more affordable and competitive.

Wats made that point above and its very pertinent. There is undoubtedly something to that.

Nobody over here has the slightest bit of interest in the Championship. In fact, most of them don't give two fu*ks about anyone outside of the 5 or 6 massive Clubs. At least when we're in the Prem I can have a bit of banter with geezers when we're going to be playing them or whatever but when we're in this division, if you bring it up, people look at you as if you've got two heads. Or worse still, they laugh and think you're winding them up.

So with that in mind, I take back what I said Wats. Looking at it from your perspective, I can see there's a certain logic to what you're saying.

    Good points, well made.

There is no middle ground for a club like QPR in the modern era. Tony Fernandes would not be QPR owner if the objective was anything other than a successful PL club. And chances are that we would still be trying to recover from receivership in the lower leagues (or not exist at all) if it wasn't for the lure of owning a glamorous top tier London club that brought in Briatori and co. So, to my mind it's not really about the Premiership vs Championship but aspiration vs obscurity that could well be in League 1 or 2. We need to build a bigger club before we can even start having this discussion IMO.

a good question. However, if your team has played in the premiership you will want to go back. There are some amazingly talented players that you would want to see - I remember taking my nephew to Zola's testimonial game purely because I wanted him to see a player of Zola's ability in the flesh.
The downside of the Premiership is that there are people of a certain age that don't know that there was a League Division 1 prior to Sky taking over the football. When I first started watching football, it was because of the quality of play from Jago and then Dave Sexton's QPR rather than players earning obscence amounts of money. The championship is good division with all sides able to beat each other on a good day.
After QPR's last season in the Premiership, I would like to see the team return to put the record straight. I don't want to see whomever is in charge, waste money on players that are not really interested in playing ofr the shirt, only for their bank balance.
Good question DL - a premiership return for me
