Really? How does one good game for Spurs in Europe against inferior opposition get him called up for Qualifiers? Oh wait I know! He plays for Spurs. If he gets called up then the likes of JWP should. I am not saying JWP is ready but he has certainly had a better start this season then Townsend!

Luke is injured again...at least he didn't wait until he was called up....that was getting suspicious. :)

Cue a new injury for Shaw ;)

Can only presume Clyne is no longer eligible?

Er, the full season of playing reasonably well for a rubbish QPR team might have been factor also.

I really disagree with the current England policy of blooding youngsters very very young, Barkley has played very few top level games yet is included in the senior side!? We should be following the Spanish policy of playing them in the younger age group until they're ready. Both Barkley and Sterling are not good enough for England seniors yet and should be given longer in the U21s.

Great to see Townsend and Barkley in there. Am I being overly optimistic in saying that I think we'll have an excellent squad in four years time?

Townsend was their best player against Swansea too. He was also great last season in a **** side. You need to calm down. Don't agree with the JWP comparison at all.

Barkley's also eligible to play for Nigeria, so, like Welbeck, Zaha and Sterling, will get a cap just to tie him to England.

Yeah I know. He's a secret black man in the Ryan Giggs mould.

If they're ready for their club's first team, they're ready for the England first team. It's not a step up at all.

If Shaw was anything other than a left back he'd probably be named in the senior squad by now.

The ones in bold I disagree with.

    FULL ENGLAND SQUAD:

    GOALKEEPERS: Hart, Ruddy, Forster.

DEFENDERS: Walker, Johnson, Jones, Smalling, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines, Cole.

MIDFIELDERS: Walcott, Young, Sterling, Milner, Gerrard, Cleverley, Lampard, Wilshere, Carrick, Barkley, Townsend.

FORWARDS: Rooney, Sturridge, Lambert, Welbeck, Defoe.

Rooney played well last night but don't really think he's earned it. Barkley too has had one decent game against Norwich...
