I'd pick Davies over Chester from current performances, could see both of them being in the squad eventually though
Definitely think Davies could be in consideration in the future if he maintains his present form. Think Chester is still a long way off but has the potential.
Right then, this would be my 23 man squad: GK: Hart, Ruddy, Butland (Foster has just been ruled out for 12 weeks with a broken foot, which is annoying as I would have played him) DEF: Baines, G.Johnson, Lescott, Jones, Cahill, Smalling, Walker, Shaw MID: Gerrard (c), Lampard, Wilshere, Milner, Thudd, Carrick FWD: Rooney, Sturridge, Lambert, Welbeck, Walcott, Defoe That of course, is more in hope than expectation.
Harper Rosie Chester Davies Dudgeon Thudd Livermore McLean Aluko Stewart Fryatt Qualification nailed on.
Heard on Talksport about 10 years ago... Caller: I'm a Hearts fan and, fair enough, Stephen Pressley gets a game for Scotland but what I can't understand is why [national coach Berti] Vogts never picks Antii Niemi. Host (former footballer Arthur Albiston): Eh? Sorry? Caller: Why does he never pick Antii Niemi for Scotland? Host: It's because he's Finnish. Caller: What? Host: Antii Niemi is Finnish. Enraged caller: He's not finished! He's only 28!
Apparently Andros Townsend has been called up. He's had one good game, so surely Thudd should get called up as well!
Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Celtic), Joe Hart (Manchester City), John Ruddy (Norwich City). Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur). Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal). Forwards: Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur), Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United), Ashley Young (Manchester United). Seriously? Townsend? Sterling? Cleverley? If Barkley has been called up, then Thudd ****ing should be. **** Off FA. ****ing big club bias showing through.
Hopefully by the time it comes around to announcing the WC squad, Thudd, Davies, Chester et al, will have had a storming season.
I don't really see why people are getting so het up. Having players involved in international matches would only damage us in the short term.
I really can't understand whether you're being sarcastic or not. Huddlestone has played started one game this season, he didn't play outstanding, he played well. Every club in the premier league could make a case for a player from their team who has played well. I personally agree that Huddlestone doesn't deserve a call up, but that doesn't mean he doesn't in the future.
Thudd was outstanding, he was one of the best players on the pitch. I'm not being sarcastic at all. If Barkley, Sterling and Townsend are getting called up on one or two decent performances, then how hasn't Thudd been considered? Sterling hasn't even started for Liverpool this season for ****s sake!
I agree that there are some players in the squad which are there because of which team they play for. However, Hodgson needs a reason to sit up and take notice (look at Rickie Lambert) it's up to the likes of Thudd to prove it this season.
I thought Livermore was better than Thudd. I understand with the questions about Sterling being called up, but Townsend had a great season last season and Barkley has been in great form these first two games. I think Huddlestone will get a call up this year, I didn't expect it to be this one though!
None of our players have done enough yet, you're getting ahead of yourself. The FA obviously don't pick the squad and there isn't a big bias against us.
