Joe Cole would be a good signing for you, imagine turning your back on a manager who got you in the top 4.
That's the beauty of this forum United States is now on my ignore list I will never have to see his drivel again
In return for taking a wage cut, Fat Joe will insist that he plays every game. Doesn't VDV have a clause like that? How are we going to accommodate all of this without weakening the team. I've said it before and now I am going to say it again, Harry has got to go.
Its funny because you spent so much time saying how poor Liverpool are and how much stronger Spurs will be in the market, and now it looks like your going to bring in a Liverpool bench warmer. I wish Joe Cole all the best, he just dint fit into the Liverpool system in the end. Maxi's 7 goals in 3 games killed off any chances Cole had of taking that position in the team.
Let's wait and see if it actually happens, eh? It could still be just a load of tabloid bollocks. Michigan - now calling himself United States (not exactly what you'd call cunning, is it?) Bale and Modric are going nowhere. Fibreglass and Nasri, however, ARE!
I've trawled through all the news stories and there is absolutely not one credible bit of evidence to suggest that we are taking Fat Joe. Not one. Surely, the only reason he'd come to us, with the attendant wage-cut, would be if we promised him first-team football; and since we already have VDV on such a contract, I cannot see that Harry can agree to any such demand. It would get to the point where Harry would have absolutely no control over who he selects. And surely Fat Joe would rather sit on 'Pool's bench eating pies at £90k a week than come and eat pies on our bench at £65k a week? I strongly suspect that we'll be hearing an interview from Harry with him stated, "I tried to sign the lad, but there wasn't deal to be done." And to put the record straight (in order to fend off the WUMs who are gathering on this one), I'd love to have Fat Joe at our club under the following conditions:- 'Pool give him to us for a nominal fee Fat Joe gets no more than £50k a week There are no promises made as to first team footy Fat Joe is given a very clear statement as to what is expected of him in terms of fitness levels, training regimes and club discipline When, and if, Fat Joe is given a chance in our first team he takes it, and accepts that if he doesn't make the grade, he's out for good I'd take a chance on him under these (but only these) circumstances, because if there is any man in world football who knows how to get Joe Cole playing like he used to, it's our Harry. And the Joe Cole is definitely a player I'd want to sign.
This is what Steven Gerrard had to say about Joe Cole in August 2010 (according to a report in The Guardian newspaper). Please try not to laugh. (Guardian article, August 2010) Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool are set for a bright new era under Roy Hodgson after the "horror" of last season – and claims that the new signing Joe Cole is better than Barcelona's Lionel Messi. Gerrard, in an interview with Match of the Day magazine, said the new manager has already given Liverpool a lift after a disappointing seventh-place finish last season. "It's a great club and after speaking with Roy Hodgson I'm really pleased to see his plans for the club. It's a new era now – we must forget about the horror of what happened last season and get this club back to where it belongs, which is the Champions League at the very least." Gerrard said Cole, signed in July on a Bosman from Chelsea, has the ability to drive the team forward. "[Lionel] Messi can do some amazing things, but anything he can do Joe can do as well, if not better. He used to shock us in training by doing footy tricks with a golf ball that most players can't even do with a football. I really fancy Joe for the [player of the year] award this season."
