QPR boss explains side to face Swindon By Paul Warburton Aug 25 QPR intend to put out the best team they can against Swindon in tonightâs Capital Cup tie â because their manager reckons he has little choice. Harry Redknapp (pic) admitted he was short of reserves and wary of throwing bodies in just for the sake of it. The League One side has made an indifferent campaign with only one league victory so far, but the Rs boss is taking no chances even though the game is at home. âWe want to win and weâll be putting out a good side,â said the manager. âBesides weâre not overloaded, and in recent games weâve had to put three kids on the bench. âWeâre trying to bring people in, but it was encouraging last week to see a young player come off the bench â and weâll crack on as we are if we have to.â Read more: Fulham Chronicle http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2013/08/25/82029-33771348/#ixzz2d9k881V4
Arry ..................... and we’ll crack on as we are if we have to.” So, full steam ahead for tonight's game. Winning is the greatest bonding tool around. Players like nothing better than winning. Everyone loves a winner! A win it is, then. C'mon you, R'rsssssssss !!!!!
By my reckoning we have 22 senior players available, including Cesar, Diakite and bloody Luke Young. Plus kids. So Harold is objectively right - ignore the three named who will never get a game, take off injuries and he has very little choice picking a team.
I hope he plays a solid spine with an infusion of our young talent, I'd like to see at least Sutherland and Hitchcock tonight. Stan, I may be imagining this, but have you got a slight downer on poor old Luke Young?
He should not be playing Austin, an injury to him will cripple us. It should be a chance for borderline players to make an impression.
Has he kicked a ball in a competitive first team game in the last 18 months? He's a waste of oxygen. If we don't want him, pay him off. If he's constantly injured, he should retire. If he wants to play (but only for London clubs by all accounts) he should accept a pay cut and go on a free to Brentford or Dagenham or somewhere. He ****ed around being difficult at Villa for ages, he's a recidivist.
About time we had a decent cup run, play as strong a side as possible...put 3 or 4 past swindon and watch confidence soar.... DT was right, we are growing as a side and a club....the misery of the last 2 years is fast becoming a distant memory.... COYR's
I think I agree with you, but then again, a hat-rick or brace for Austin could set give him the confidence needed to go on and bag another 25 this year in the league.
2 broken legs in 2 years in meaningless cup matches. Its not worth the risk unless we get to the quarters or further. I think austin is doing well enough as it is. The goals will come.
He will be starting every single FLC game as Zamora is a crippled donkey and AJ cant even be sure of starting half our games.
I think this shows that we really need is a few defenders if hill and dunne get injury we're stuffed. also i cant see hill playing every game. we could do with a couple more forwards. we have one who needs a operation but if he has it that's his career over. also i think we are all fearful of AJ getting injured again
Ive been saying it for weeks, same goes for wingers, I still think we need 1 more. At least we have the loan option when the inevitable happens and we dont even have enough players for the 1st 11, never mind the bench.
I'm broadly happy with the starting XI now (when AJ is fit), but would certainly like another young CB, and a backup striker. With Hoilett, Phillips, SWP and O'Neil, we're okay on the wings, and we've certainly got enough in CM. To be honest, Baird can play at CB, LB and RB from what I've read, so getting that deal over the line would leave me much much happier with cover at the back.
I'd give Zamora a game and tell him to score a goal Then rest Austin and AJ Suk Young LB Faurlin Jenas Traore ONeil mid Zamora Hitchcock up front plus 3 other defenders that does not include Hill or Dunne
Crazy world. It's only a few years since managers had to explain why they didn't pick a full strength team for cup matches. Now they have to explain when they do. A consistent side and winning are both good habits.
