We should have enough to beat Liverpool.

You are making the same mistake as Dave in underestimating the opposition..<whistle>

Yes it can. Chelsea showed nothing special tonight but they got what they came for. You on the other hand lacked enough creativity to even create more than a handfull of chances AT HOME.

Don't look for excuses. Look at what went wrong and why!!

Your midfield was absolute ****e. Wellbeck runs round like a headless chicken and only Rooney shows any imagination. Suck it up its the truth. Don't like it then piss off

I think that Moyes would not have been too unhappy at this result. One point against a Chelsea team which have a very good record at Ot is not bad... so we are reasonably happy. Some of us had been fearing the worse out of this awful and hard sequence of matches. Not a bad performance. yes we could have done with a goal but hopeful we will remedy the situation this weekend..<whistle>

If you play like you did tonight you won't remedy a thing - hopefully <ok>

@Diego, your team is obviously better than ours over a whole season but at Anfield its different. On paper you should've been beating us easily everytime, but at Anfield we've beaten you more often than not in recent times, and the only time I can remember you winning is with a 1st half red card & a dodgy penalty call.

With the fans behind the team, the intimidating atmosphere (influences ref & your team) & our players being fired up we have a good chance of winning or at the very least drawing. Does it have much bearing on the rest of the season or how close we are to you? Nope, Old Trafford is the real test for that and we've fallen woefully short there in the last decade (bar the 4-1 when we challenged for the title)

What excuses? we played against a team that defended really well and were set up to get the draw. Sometimes you have to accept that against the better teams you will not win.

Well said that man, and you have as much chance of beating us (home or away) as any other team. That is why we watch football ;)

IF. But it is really unlikely that United will play Liverpool away in the same way as playing Chelsea at OT (in their opening match)...<ok>

The season will tell. But if what you showed tonight was the true strength of your attacking skill then it is going to be a very long and hard season. Just be honest with yourself. Would you have expected United to win tonight or not? I don't believe you if you say that you didn't. So what I'm saying is continue that honesty and ask why the United team couldn't break through. The result wasn't all down to good Chelsea defending!

    Anyway off to bed!

But our results at ANFIELD against you would suggest that if you don't improve significantly then you won't win.

Our game with United will definitely be different because of the rivalry. Even back when Roy was boss and our form was crap we went to Old Trafford and it was a closely fought game. Tight and competitive. We lost 3-2 but it could have gone either way.

Form goes out the window in these games.

I did not expect us to win tonight, in fact i thought we might loose quite heavily. Do you really think Chelsea had a poor defence tonight?

History, every season is different and cup finals for one team always more important.

I only saw the second half but John Terry had Van Persie in his pocket.

Sorry to tell you but this isn't a cup tie it's a league match - though you might hope it were given your record against us in cup encounters.

Must try harder if you want to be a condescending smart arse!

Chelsea had a well organised defence and they supported their back 4 by swamping their defensive midfield a la Mourinho sides of the past. However, there was very little sings of any United inventiveness to break such a strategy down.

So to an outsider it was bit like their Wellington to your Napoleon - Wellington said "They came on in the same old way and I beat them in the same old way" Their defence was sound and rarely stretched.

It's going to be a different scenario at ANFIELD on Sunday. Liverpool v Chelsea is bigger than Manchester United v Chelsea. It's
a game Liverpool cannot afford to lose.<ok>

can see us beating United on saturday. Moyes will aim to go out and get a draw just like he did against Chelsea. No way they've got the title.
