The thought had not occurred to me - thanks! I just remember DC saying that Gutierrez might get in trouble for his weaving and I just thought "what weaving, he's the only one in the right place in this whole situation" (addendum: holding his position around the outside of Blanchimont and then successfully completing the overtake at the chicane was a superb move, and has improved my opinion of Gutierrez a smidgen. He may, slowly, be getting better)

I'm sure a lot of people will latch onto di Resta's new statistic of no points in the last few races; astonishingly, as much as he may have a penchant for moaning - it is not actually always his fault!

Perhaps one solution would be, in light of his previous issues with Hamilton's presence on the track and proper starting procedure, to ban Maldonado from Spa for the duration of his racing career. I'm sure it would help most of the other drivers sleep easier at night! ;)

I can definitely recall one or two near misses in the last few years, unfortunately Youtube doesn't seem to be willing to provide evidence. I fully agree that it's a bit daft and dangerous. It does raise an issue however because so is any pit entry which takes place during the last corner. Take Sepang, another one that I swear has had some near misses, potentially made even worse than Spa by the completely different - and much faster - line that is taken by those entering the pits. If they would just move the pitlane entry to make it more like Monza or Canada (either would work really, so long as it was implemented properly) then that would be hugely beneficial to all concerned and reduce the risk of such incidents.

An pit lane exit half way between Blanchimont and the chicane which funnelled drivers off the circuit would surely be best? Put a small chicane/kink on the entry about 200m down from where it leaves the track to slow the cars down so they don't get an advantage to leaving the circuit early, but means they don;t brake on the main circuit and avoid a dangerous situation and it would be much better solution. Wouldn't even require much work to do that.

I hope you had a great time, Silver. Just one request: please; no cheesy jokes about your green piece, or that your efforts were in vein…

Slight reveal of one incident, had F1 drivers driving past us on Saturday, Webber comes along in his black Infinity and gets stopped by us becasue we took over the road and there was only 2 hot female police. Some guy then opens his door because Mark isn't smart to lock his doors and Iceman Shakes his hand and Mark starts taking pictures of us surrounding his car. The police push us back and then 10 minutes later 3 van fulls of police come and they push us back to take control of both lanes. 30 minutes after that those 3 vans left and were replaced with... RIOT POLICE who just stood there really for about 2 hours. Last year they didn't do that so I gather they're improving the police response over the years with the increase in popularity.

Next day on Sunday the F1 drivers have to take the back route option instead of the front because the same thing would happen <laugh>

Hopefully mark will post it on twitter :)

Is Hamilton cheating on Alonso with Vettel?

To highlight the difference between cars through Eau Rouge the speed trap data just afterwards:

    Webber + Vettel: 306.1kph
    Massa + Alonso: 307.2 and 303.0kph
Rosberg and Hamilton: 299.1 and 298.1kph

Thats quite a big difference, I assume the Merc's must have gambled on a wet race or periods of the race under changeable conditions? I assume that speed difference cost them in the final sector too?

Seems like a great tactic to get beaten no matter which way the weather swings.

Hence their (Mercedes) comments after the race where they believe it was a one off? and that the pace wasn't because of tyre wear? If so, if they trim the wing for Monza, they could be back in the hunt for a race win...

    Lol no bias intended eh?

Met some great Italian Ferrari fans who could speak a good bit of English on the Thursday and for some reason they said they hated Alonso's guts and they wanted Kimi back.

I guess the Italian press have been whipping up the comments made by Alonso/Montezemelo after the Hungarian GP, but Alonso has been pretty negative all season so maybe the fans are starting to tire of it and would prefer to see a bit more spark and fire coming from him to show he is still motivated?
