THE dad of drug mule Melissa Reid has told her to plead guilty to help reduce the time she may have to spend in prison in Peru. William Reid has travelled from the family’s home in Lenzie to support his daughter and her co-accused Michaella McCollum after they were caught trying to carry £1.5million of cocaine thorugh Lima airport. The 20-year-olds insist they were abducted and terrorised by an armed gang and forced to travel from Ibiza to South America to bring back the drugs. Police have said they do not believe their story and Mr Reid last night said he wasn’t “100 per cent” certain either. He said that if the girls faced 15 years in jail for being caught with the drugs whatever the mitigating circumstances then they would be better off pleading guilty when their sentences might be halved. He said: “These girls are young. They may be living in cloud cuckoo land and thinking that magically, next week, they are going to be free. “If you’re adamant that you’re innocent, you don’t belive that you’re even going to be given a sentence.” Mr Reid is returning to Scotland and has told Melissa, who is being held in prison after her first court appearance last week, that he might not see her until her trial, possibly three years away. He added: “That was the biggest reality check that I’ve seen from her. She cried.” Melissa’s mum Debra said: “Whatever age your child is and whatever they have done, they are still your baby.”

So? Fair play to them I say. If it wasn't for people doing things like that people like you and Dev wouldn't have drugs.
I just find it odd that people who take drugs are taking so much pleasure in people trying to smuggle drugs getting caught.
