Nice one LDL - I prefer Lulu's version though it's a Bowie song of course.

Yeah, covers are often better although this was the wrong way round. Bowie covering a Lulu song would have been far more interesting.

Punk/pop-punk bands covering surf classics by the Beach Boys are my favourites. The Beach Boys melodies were made for punk rock guitars. On a footie theme, "Help Me Rhonda" (Valley), "God Only Knows" and "Goin' South" are dedicated to City fans everywhere.

It could go either way, but home advantage will hopefully count. They have been a bogey team so I'm not predicting.

I'd carry VdV back from Hamburg on my shoulders. By far and away one of my favourite Spurs players I've ever seen and him in this team would be a sight to behold. I don't think he's AVB's kind of player though, doesn't have the workrate even though with a midfield of Capoue and Paulinho you're hardly short of effort to compensate for him.

Its sad that this is true whishful thinking because he'll never come back.

I really hope i'm wrong, but JD's cameo today had the look of a final run out. Was given a huge hug by soldado when he came on, was clearly emotional (getting in a shoving match within about a minute or so), and then seemed to wonder around a bit lost at the end.

Gareth Bale finally seals £86m move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ve-from-Tottenham-Hotspur-to-Real-Madrid.html

For a deal that was agreed on the 2nd of August...they took their time

All the best to Bale and hopefully he will go onto become a success as he has been nothing short of superb for us, not one bit of trouble and just a pity the rest of the team last year wasn't good enough to help us grab 4th.

The DM are all over it as well Boss.

Am I still allowed to be relentlessly optimistic and dismiss this as paper talk?

"Vlad Chiriches, there is an interest in the player," said Villas-Boas. "Maybe somebody steals him as well!

I mentioned that I wouldn't be surprised if there was a couple of surprising exits. Defoe bring one of those. - I just hope we've got strikers lined up!

However, Lennon would be a big surprise! Again, I could see it happening though.

With AVB saying "we can expect an exciting week", there could be lots of ins and outs now.

My only concern is the amount of changes which could be disruptive. But then again, the new lads really seem to have settled well. It's just poor soldado that needs some service.
I know I'm the worst culprit for "creativity", but it's vital we start scoring 2 or 3 in a game if we deserve to score that many. (Like yesterday). Otherwise it's gonna be same old spurs at the end of the season when we're assessing our goal difference compared to others around us. That creative man will help to resolve this.

As much as I loved Rafa, definitely don't want him back. He's had huge personal problems / scandal since moving back to the HSV (who are having a shocking start to the season with 1pt from 9, which is only just better than last year) and reports are that he is definitely not in the right physical condition to play in the BL. Considering the problems with fitness he had whilst at Spurs and the nature of the game AVB seems to want to play (high tempo pressing) he would definitely be a passenger, something that I don't think we can afford to have for the probably 60-70 mins per match he could play.

Now what I would love to see would be the Bale deal including Özil (+ say €50m) coming the other way . Reports in Germany are that he's feeling unsettled with the idea of Bale coming as it could be him who misses out what with Isco being signed as well. Considering it's a WC year he'll want 1st team footy an he'd be welcome in my book to play 10 for us all year long. Not super goal threatening (19 in 109 I think) but as a playmaker, yes please.

What I wanna see right now is PSG suddenly come in for bale, offering insane money, which Levy accepts right away.
That would be funny as ****!

    RM would be like <yikes>

I really hope it happens. How come another billionaire owned club hasn't come in for him bearing in mind Madrid's faffing about?

With this stage they've apparently got set up for him and the endless tapping up all summer, it would be amazing to see this happen. Even if it's just a smokescreen to get RM to pay up, knowing that they might lose out on him. It's a shame we don't have a partnership with PSG. could really do with a favour from them now! <laugh>
