its the i.c.c s fault, lets have floodlights but not use them, whats the point!!!! full credit for the aussie captain for going for it, he probably had money on england
Clarke set the match up for a result from a situation where any England captain would have shut up shop, whatever the series score. Fair play to him. Of course when it looked like they would lose, he played for a draw.
England have only themselves to blame, they wasted many over in the previous days as well with a ponderous over rate. They cant have any complaints, the fans on the other hand, why spend 4 or 5 days watching a game and then be denied a result because they wont play for another 20 mins?
The rules is the rules. I know it seems daft that they couldn't finish the game, but as you say England spent most of the game trying to waste time.
that had nothing to do with it because Australia would not of played like they did in their second innings
It was only 4 overs difference between stopping play and England winning, not like it was 20 or 30. Theyd have played the exact same way.
Come on Flyer, England spent 90% of the match playing for a draw. Clarke made an extremely generous declaration to try and manufacture a result, but it didn't work out. The rules that let England walk off on Friday had to apply again.
the rules were correct but the rules are wrong, there should be evening play if hours are lost. I don't really care about the teams but the fans were screwed, its like abandoning a match in the 89th minute due to rain. Technically it may be correct but you have to go on.
