I've actually done that before but not through HDMI. My old TV (which is a 40" Samsung) has a VGA point <yikes>

I got the TV in December.

PC is about six or seven year old now but still decent spec considering.

I have a toshiba tv with the usb ports etc.

    Heres what you need.

The file needs to be DivX or Xvid

the audio needs to be mp3

you can see all the details of the file on whatever site youre getting the films from.

aac and ac3 audio will not work as any video will not work if its not xvid.

so in short download "insert film title here".xvid

Divx is a codec that makes avi files. They are still avi files. The TV will play avi files encoded the with the right codec divx or not

I'd say there are a couple, there are quite a few avi codecs. My TV is a panasonic smart tv but I still get the odd video unsupported file type messages.

If the TV is new, it should play .mvk .mp4 .avi files I would imagine, most HD files are either .avi or .mkv
