Since Sneijder's is basically clearly better than VDV and we miss the hell out of VDV that would be absolutely massive. I would absolutely love Sneijder at Spurs. Surely can't happen.

On the downside I've heard he's a bit of an idiot and yes, wages would be big. Maybe get round that by doing one of those big signing-on fees and a high but not silly wage.

5m for Sneijder would be talked of as deal of the window come next May.

Earnings are an issue. Not the time for pension players, regardless of their legend.

Sneijder's 29. Not 30 til next June, according to wiki.

Not scrap-heap time and not even very close to pension time. Maybe the last chance for a shot at the EPL in a top team, mind...

Half the price of Chadli?! Sell-on value's one thing but we all want results on the pitch first and foremost. The odd Sneijder-like signing will not undermine the whole transfer philosophy will it?

Tell us then, as of this moment :

What monies should Spurs be paying Sneijder to play for Spurs in the 2013-14 season ??
And how does that compare to what he is earning now at his current club ??

He's earning €6m per season in wages, plus a €1m annual bonus, at Galatasaray - and he wasn't willing to take a pay cut to leave Inter when there was a lot more interest in him.

So that is 6m quid a year we have to pay.
And in this scenario, is Adebayor still a Spurs player ??

If we're prepared to pay 30 million for willian plus offer him top end wages, then I personally would love us to sign a player who can make an impact like VDV, I would take VDV back, and these typre of players can offer more in 2 seasons then players like Willian can offer in their entire career.

Dunno but that's not connected because, for me, if Ade leaves we'll then need another striker anyhow. Wouldn't see Sneijder as a direct replacement if that's what you mean, no.

I guess maybe the point you're making is that then we would have two players, both 29 and losing sell-on value both earning 100k+ (as I'm sure we would for Sneijder). But we were offering Bale over 100k to stay. I've said myself many times how we have to watch the wages and yes, in hindsight Ade for 100k looks a dangerous precedent. But come on - we're talking about Wesley Sneijder here - it's not like we're waving this sort of money around trying to attract the Next Big Thing just so Chelsea don't get them. Sneijder would be about as proven as you could wish for without ever having played in the EPL.

According to his girlfriend on twitter he is moving to London so unless the Chavs nick him I guess he will be signing for us.

i've seen that too. But it's been quickly dismissed and apparently the rumours have only come about as a wind up after the chelsea/willian debacle.

Lamely remained on the bench, despite 3 substitutions....

Sky are reporting that AVB has said that we hope to sign chiriches. - I'd go as far as to say that deal is done. AVB doesn't usually comment on players. For him to say something like that indicates that it's all but done, IMO.

Keep Bale and just add a back up keeper to our current squad, and I'd fancy our chances of top 4.

If Bale goes, who knows, not me, I'm the man who soldadao the world

    May be cryptic <ok>

Rumors emerging that Cardiff are after Lennon...

Edit: it appears to have come from Spurs community, so probably best to ignore that one! <laugh>

I can't help but think that sneijder already has his slippers on. Unwilling to take a pay cut and signed up in a 3rd rate league for the money.
If you offered me him or vdv I'd eat your hand, forearm, upper arm and shoulder to take vdv
