Agree with this but the fact that he brought Vaughan on and not Cabral when he tried to shore up worries me slightly

I think he brought Vaughan on to try and get some possessional play.

I don't think he fancied Cabral in this game, or Roberge, opting for more physical presence in Diakite and gardner/Larsson to close down there cm quickly. Think Cabral will be more suited to home games when we have more possession.

These hit the nail on the head for me. PDC has said before that he sets up his teams depending on who we're playing and therefore he must have had a specific reason in mind to leave Cabral on the bench. Similarly with the subs.

I personally think he made a mistake by putting Gardner is instead of Cabral, as Gardner was never in the game at cm. I trust he had a suitable reason anyway

That aside I've no criticisms of Di Canio

I've seen countless people moan before about bringing on midfielders/defenders and inviting pressure, so they can hardly complain when Di Canio trys to help take pressure off.

Diakite for Roberge was a definite tactical switch. As for the midfield, I reckon yesterday will turn out to have been a very good game for Lee Cattermole.

Bringing Diakité in is something I had hoped he would do and he definitely made the right decision

There was a lot of balls floated into the box and Diakité is undoubtedly more suited to dealing with those than Roberge

Perhaps Paolo was making a point to Short saying look at the middle of the Park if Cabral gets injured we are woeful, which makes the loaning of Alfie even more baffling? He would get into the side before both Larrson and Gardner for me.

Mate I know mon made that point last season with not enough lads on the bench.. Surely PDC has to have more brains then that? gardner in cm is demoralising from even a neutral point of view ffs.. I hope PDC comes out this wk with why cabral didn't play. I trust & back the fiery Italian!!!

I think he was rested for the MK Dons game. I think he may be the man to shepard Ba as our cm two on tuesday. I reckon Paolo will want to us to win this comp and he's got to find a balance in his team selection to win games while giving fringe players a run out at the same time.
