I a head very little to go on from today's match having only seen text updates on bbc and watched on here. A large number of our fans say we were terrible. Yet the end of play summariser for bbc said there were a number of positives for both sides. Giaccherini scored (massive plus for me... Although how a 5' 6" lad scores with a header I'll never know!) Any away point, particularly at a place that we were expected by all and sundry to get hammered, is a good point. There ,Steve been something positive? On a separate note, what are the odds that all the pundits who said we didn't get anything that we expected from Fulham trout once referencing our performance will say "Southampton really should've won this game and Sunderland will feel they rode their luck blah blah we hate Sunderland" ****e!
I was quite happy with a point and although they dominated second half we still had our fair share of chances to nick a two goal lead which would have seen us out But Southampton have invested extremely heavily over the summer so a point away from home, their first home game is very respectable It wasn't as one-sided as some commentators have made out imo
The reason he scored was that Southampton defended the corner worse than we did last week. SIX of them ran away from Giac and ended up under the ball. hahaha I still think we will do fine this season. Good last week bad this week swings and roundabouts. When they get used to playing together after imo 10 games and if they are still **** then I will be hyper critical. But I reserve the right to get my moan in when required.
Won't stop or complain about you moaning mr when justified. Haven't seen anything of the game so can't judge!! Why was Sessegnon dragged off? Anyone know? Has his head been turned
In over 50 years supporting this club, I have yearned for a time when our potential would be realised, I reckon the current attempt could go either way, for me early signs are not great, but it has to be given little time.
imo to go to anywhere away and get a point is good, so close to all three , a very hard earned point as well ,watched the whole game again last night , there wont be many teams who turn them over at home.
we are often hyper critical, especially just after a match has finished and the wounds are still sore. but on reflection, we are looking a decent side bar the obvious cm and lb requirementa. the team needs more time to gel and we just have to be patient over the next month or so's games. it will be up and down but i do think we'll come out the other side in far better shape.... testing times for us fans who have seen splenty of ****e and false dawns over the years but KTF.
Not our best game and not our worst mate, yes we rode our luck but so did they. We should have been down to 10 early in the second half and Southampton not long after that. Referee was very strange booking Gardiner for a tackle (deserved for me) then more or less a carbon copy of the same tackle gets nothing. I think the strikers need to work on their communication as a couple of times they just stood there watching a decent chance go begging. Larsson had one good pass which resulted in the goal then struggled for the rest of the game, he is not a CM just wish our managers would realise that. Defence held right up till the last 5 or so minutes and fell to yet another set piece again something else to work on. Think most of us had Westwood as MOTM which isn't great for us shows we have a lot of work to do to get ourselves moving.
I was totally confused by the dropping of Roberge and Cabral, two of our best players last week, to accommodate Gardner in midfield (he was very poor IMO) but overall, we have come away with a hard earned point. We are still finding our feet and learning about our new players and it could be another 10 games before our best 11 and formation is found and more importantly, we will have Fletcher back in that time too. 2 games in we have seen us play very well and lose and play much worse and get a point. We have to be much more tolerant and patient with the manager and the team. I have seen lots to be happy with so far and some things I'm not so happy with. That's football.
I was very happy with a point from what I thought was a very tough away game, where unlike our games of late, the home support backs their team to the hilt. However, it is still always painful when such a late goal denies us 3 points..
I just think them scoring right at the end has put a massive downer on things. If it was us thay scored we would be celebratimg like it was a win.
There are 19 other teams that have a good chance of beating us and there are at least 15 that we have a good chance of beating. I think the answer is yes.
The line MRAW contiunally takes is the one lacking positivity. We will be ok this season, there will be some crap and there will be some good.
