This is why the press hate us/Di Canio. They would think exactly the same.sad isn't it that some of us think like this.

On the plus side, I read somewhere yesterday that he got a knock in training so was left on the bench as a precaution

yep, we slag off the crows for suggesting we'll implode and there's impending internal strife.......but do it too readily ourselves. we have to have a bit more belief that there are valid reasons for players not making the first team via knocks, twinges or even tactics etc, rather than jumping the gun and thinking it's coz a player kicked off about nee ketchup.

On the match thread lads rumour (again) he took a knock in training we were all wondering why he was on the bench if he was injured mind, probably nothing more to it than that.
Why was your post deleted Stevie3000?

If there was a falling out......would he have even made the bench! Di Canio would probably have lined him against a wall and shot him, not left him on the bench!

DiCanio said in his post match interview (think it was the SAFC.com one but might be wrong) that he didn't think he was aggressive enough to match their midfield

Gardner certainly is. Most booked player last season. Larsson however is another story

If this is true, I have lost a bit of respect and confidence in Di Canio.

Since when were Larsson or Vaughan aggressive or physical

Not saying I agree with him mate, just reporting what I heard him say.

I can't stand Gardner, a poor footballer and a loose cannon, he did his bet to knock Giacc out of the way for his goal.

My fear of DiCanio is that he will make his point to the detriment of the team. We were back to the bad old days yesterday, very poor ball retention, couldn't find our man and no creativity, that was all down to his choice in midfield.

I hope I'm wrong and he made the choice, rightly or wrongly, for football reasons, but I suspect it was to make a point to Cabral, otherwise why didn't he bring him on when he brought Vaughan on to shore up?

To be fair he is part of the match squad and we may not have had anyone away so if he wasn't 100% then he was only ever going to be bench fodder.

My concern is once again the club are adding to the media and fans frenzy about it.

Why can't they just make a quick statement to day he picked up a knock and everything would be fine. The fact they haven't or won't is a concern IMO.

Di Canio knows best and although it's a surprise he was dropped I have full faith in his decision

He's on record in a few interviews now saying he will rotate the team depending on the opposittion and tactics. Football is a squad game now, we used to whinge like hell at O'Neill having his favourites and never changing the team, now we've got a head coach who rotates we are whingeing about players being "dropped". That said until the overall quality of the squad improves we will be risking bringing in lesser players at times in order to keep everyone fresh.

Maybe Cabral picked up a niggle so it was decided to keep him on the bench then not risk him as we were winning and defending well. Maybe PDC just didn't fancy him in this game. Only PDC knows for sure. But get Cattermole fit, bring in another CM (I won't mention lb as we are jinxed in that regard) and get Fletcher fit and suddenly we have a lot more options to change things around from game to game.
