Chester made some good interceptions but gave the ball away with bad passes early on in the game.

    Huddlestone
    Davies
    Koren.

Though McGregor/Chester/Livermore/Brady were close to being in the top 3 for me.

    1. Livermore - thought the energy he showed right up to the last minute was fantastic, passing was good, he tracked back and tackled really led by example.
    2. Davies - Solid, as were the other defenders, thought he wasn't great last week when everyone else was putting him for motm, so was much happier this week.
    3. Koren - Got stuck in with some tackles when we needed it with 10 men, he could have shied away always available for the ball good passing, he is the right choice for captain on today's performance lead by example, I don't believe a captain has to be a 'shouter' like Davies, players like Davies will shout and instruct players whether they have an armband on or not, the captain has to lead by example and be a calm influence on the team when dealing with the ref and team mates that is what Koren did today.

Obviously Thudd, Figueroa and McGregor were great today too but they are more experienced/better technical players so didn't surprise or stand out from what I expected.

As everyone else is saying, it's really really difficult to list just three, as there were so many top notch performances today but here goes:

    1. Livermore - just the sort of box to box midfielder we've been missing, really like the look of him.
    2. Davies - excellent all around performance and really seemed to be up for it.
    3. McGregor - commanded his area better than any keeper we've had for a long time and then pulled off some excellent saves too!

Special mention to Huddlestone, Koren, Brady and Elmo but all the rest played their part also, even Sagbo until he got his marching orders!

I've been critical of Koren but he was brilliant today. Livermore and McGregor were also impressive.

McGregor - Stopped what looked like a certain goal and a few others that the Stockdales of this world would have watched fly past them into the net.
Davies - Solid as a rock and needed to be.
Koren - Matched Livermore for effort and workrate today and led the team by example.

Others worth mentioning... Hudd oozes class, Elmo looked solid defensively again and put a few into the box that should have been met with more quality.

Agree with that...made far more of a nuisance of himself with their defence than Graham was able to.

MOTM after 60 minutes Huddlestone. Class class class. After that his arse was hanging out. Brilliant player, always got time on the ball.

1 Davies. Fantastic performance. That run out of defence!!! kin hell.
2 Livermore. non stop performance. Got a great touch and great engine. Shoulda blasted that shot in the first half instead of scooping it.
3 Elmo. Excellent again. Had my dobts about him in the premeiership but defending really well and always an outlet going forward.

Thought Roko Brady and Aluko were great but as theres so much choice and they didnt last the game out....................

Last thought but when Chezzy's the werakest link in defence you know how far we've come already!!!

I don't know about 'passes', but there was certainly one complete suicide pass in the first half.

i agree, elmo looked quality today, he faded in the last part of the previous season but today he showed his quality, a great permanent signing, loved his dancing infront of the east stand at the end

    Livermore
    Davies
    Mcgregor

Livermore looked a class act, box to box, made some really good runs and had a lot of energy. Davies was a rock, and his run just got everyone going again. Mcgregor gets in for that save alone which saved us two points.

Tough today, 4 or 5 players were spectacular, nothing to choose between 1st and 5th really. If I could pick 5 Livermore and McGregor would have taken 4th and 5th.

Totally agree. Livermore looks like a great acquisition. Real box-to-box player and a big improvement on Meyler. Davies is England quality. McGregor superbly agile...great shot stopper. Barring injuries we should be able to stay up and maybe mid-table. Much better organized team than our last Prem go-round.

I thought more people would have McGregor on top - simply outstanding performance for me. Saved everything and his distribution was calm and sensible. It may be controversial but I have my doubts about Chester - he looks a little out of his depth at times. Hopefully he will improve as he gets more games under his belt, but there were a few occasions where I thought he got away with some sloppy play.
