Honestly if I were a Liverpool fan I would want to meet United much much later after having built some confidence and accumulated more points. <ok>

Yeah, I wish we would have accumulated more than the 6 points we have so far <doh>

Confidence with us must be awful at the moment following 2 wins out of 2, 2 clean sheets, a penalty save from our new keeper, and 2 goals in 2 from our main CF. Things are bloody **** being a Liverpool fan at the moment. to be honest, I don't know why we're planning on turning up, easier to just not show and take an automatic 3-0 loss <ok>

We lost to WBA 3-0 last season and should have then beaten Man City if it weren't for a Skrtel mistake. Each game is different. Sometimes we will struggle against a bottom side, then go and get a result against a top team.

May be Moyes would have wanted such a meeting later too, from his whinge about the difficult start to the season. Yes it will be a tasty match. If United beat Chelsea, there will less pressure on them to win against Liverpool. A defeat on Monday will probably mean that it becomes a must win match for Moyes.

You are being obtuse. You know what I mean. The draw has been made and Liverpool and united are meeting next. In an ideal world, both managers after a good start would (probably) have wanted that difficult match to have come later. In which case you could have had the chance to have more points on the table before that match...<doh>

Nah, sprinkle the games against the top 5 or 6 out throughout the season. that way, you don't get a cluster of them all in 1 go and risk going on a run of 2 or 3 games without picking up any points.

For us, think it comes at a good time, after 2 winnable games (which thankfully we've won) it comes giving us some breathing space if we do lose and then following it are 2 games against Swansea & Southampton which, although tricky, are more than winnable.

Unlike United that could possible (and I don't think you will) but lose to Chelsea, drop points to us (beat Palace) and then lose to City as well. Then the pressure would really be on. Yet if you lost to all 3 but in the space of 8 or 9 weeks then the pressure wouldn't be as bad, as probably would have picked up points in between those games

Prefer to have the little blips at the start of the season, whilst the squad gets to grips. In the past you see teams storming the table from the start, only to drop off dramatically.

Very difficult start for Moyes no doubt about that. I think it is not such a bad position for him. If he does badly, most will say 'horrible start for a new manager' it was expected that he would lose points'. If he wins those matches (which is possible!) it will give him confidence and the games are slightly easier afterwards.

Anyway, I think Moyes will be looking to beat Liverpool which is nothing new for him.

Really? Because most Everton fans seem to think that he had some sort of block when playing us and played way too defensive rather than having a go. Not saying that's what he'd do now he has better players at his disposal but do think occasional he'd play for a draw which led to his failures at Anfield.

Reina would have made those saves I think, it was actually Toure that made the difference on the last chance for Benteke forcing him to go near post otherwise Ming would have naturally expected Benteke to go across him with the shot, Toure had helped out Ming big time on that one

First chance to make comment on the Villa game. Haven't read all that has been written so if I repeat anything - sorry.

I was so impressed in the first half. We grabbed the initiative and held it for 40 mins with lots of style confidence and skill plus a goal. You can moan and say that we should have created more clear chances but it was a masterclass. The second was a totally different matter. They were quicker to the ball and far more committed. Given that our defence was mostly secure. There was a lot of Villa huff and puff but only a few truly clear chances created and most of them from outside of the box. Both Toure and Ming come out with great credit. Equally I think Gerrard and Lucas do brilliantly in the screening role. For me the problem came when we looked for the outball. We need out attackers to make some runs and create time and space. However their heads seemed to be still in the first half as they kept checking-back and playing balls in-field. It's not surprising when you consider that none of them are blessed with blinding pace. But it did hurt us as we couldn't relieve the pressure.

Big improvement on set pieces yesterday, especially when you consider they had some big physical players. Very encouraging.

yeah some improvement... we jumped with guys.. thats better than free headers. toure jumped with benteke and so the guy got 2/3 in but all were off target.

i was personally dissappointed in us. we dominated villa first half and never came out second half. rodgers can indded dress it up as a defensive display BUT ok after 70mins yes but we were rocking and abandoned our passing game. brainless clearances, piss poor passing from some and johnson just retreated into his shell for example.

Villa did well to come back but lacked a little quality to link it together.

    this is very good.

I thought a pass is what we needed. a foot on the ball on 50mins and just pass it to each other, even round the back. maybe we ran out of steam.... remembering sturridge is unfit supposedly for 90 but i thought some players like johnson bottled it a bit.

We did mostly keep them out but there were 3 clear chances, two saved by mingolet that they should have got. one fired wide and then several set piece efforts we competed for but lost and headers went over. We could be raging today. its a good bit of luck. villa need to improve a bit but they have some really good attributes. i think 3 points there is a great result.

4 points ahead of everton who think there's a przie for that... whatever.

    6 points off relegation zone.

6 points out of 70 earned.

roll on utd. lets see what we can go do about them. our passing game first half was excellent, clearly one and two touch. we must not abandon it so easily next time but equally we totally lacked penetration and thats why the score was low.... we only made that one or two chances.

I thought Lucas was shocking in the second half. I was impressed with Gerrard defensively. However, on the whole I'm not happy with the CM partnership and the first sign of pressure, we fail to retain possession and our midfield becomes overrun.

Becoming more and more impressed with Toure - his enthusiasm and 'winning mentality' is infectious. And Mignolet made some very good saves as well, particularly the one against Benteke late on (however Toure did an amazing job of covering the ground to put Benteke off slightly).

As Dave mentioned earlier, we didn't have an outlet in the second half and struggled to counter attack. Someone like Sterling or Ibe would have been useful to come on for Aspas.

As much as I like Henderson because of his energy and strength, we need someone who can not only do this but also add more to the team in terms of quality. Problem is, take Henderson out and we lose a lot of energy in the midfield. However, we need someone who can contribute to the attack. Hendo does get into good positions and he makes good runs but I feel he lacks that final ball. He has the potential to become the next Kuyt, but Kuyt (for all of his 'faults') did deliver in terms of assists and important goals at the right times.

In addition, I'm not Johnson's biggest fan but I really think he is in a decline. Apart from the odd blistering run, he is rather brainless on the ball and dwells on the ball. In general, I think there are still a few players in this team that take too much time on the ball, and pick the wrong pass. I would class Johnson, Enrique and Henderson in this category.
